4. I will read parts of it on c-span |
|
I know I won't read 500+ pages, mostly because I watched all of the 9/11 Comm. hearings. I will for sure scan the book, and read the entire executive summary. If I question anything in it, I will go to the section of the book for clarification.

I won't spoil the ending for people on DU, though.
Actually, near the end, the chapter "How to Do It?" which lists recommendations, is interesting.
On Edit: Added question mark

The President was seated in a classroom when,at 9:05,Andrew Card whispered to him: “A second plane hit the second tower.America is under attack.”The President told us his instinct was to project calm, not to have the country see an excited reaction at a moment of crisis. The press was standing behind the children; he saw their phones and pagers start to ring. The President felt he should project strength and calm until he could better understand what was happening.203 The President remained in the classroom for another five to seven minutes, while the children continued reading.

NORAD officials have maintained consistently that had the passengers not caused United 93 to crash, the military would have prevented it from reaching Washington,D.C.That conclusion is based on a version of events that we now know is incorrect. The Langley fighters were not scrambled in response to United 93; NORAD did not have 47 minutes to intercept the flight; NORAD did not even know the plane was hijacked until after it had crashed. It is appropriate, therefore, to reconsider whether United 93 would have been intercepted.

9. The matter-of-fact description of Bush's reaction is almost sarcastic |
|
This pathetic scene of a terror-stricken president sitting in a children's reading class for 5 to 7 minutes while just being told "America is under attack" has always been a huge embarrassment for the president. For him to spin it, ex post facto, as his "instinct" to "project calm" is truly laughable. The report goes on to show how cluelessly out of touch and out of command Bush was in handling the crisis. From the moment it happened it was clear, even to Bush, that he was incapable of dealing with the situation and demurred to Big Time when the going got tough.
The NORAD quote is interesting in how completely every level of responsibility was trying to cover their ass.

This is a complete whitewash more corrupt than the Warren Commission report, a horrendous slap on the faces of the 911 families. One lie after another, I feel sorry for anyone wasting their time reading it.
It treats the attacks as 'surprise' (yeah, right) and it doesn't blame anyone. Utterly corrupt.
