11. By God I want names. This is a travesty! I have been talking |
|
about a dictatorship. I believe it is here if this does pass. We have been sold down the river. The Senate has always had better sense so I hope this goes nowhere. Everyone in this country should be up in arms about the House denying rights to another class of citizen. I have said it before and I will say it again, if the hetero males in the House think they can save their own marriages by denying others they are really in a heap of trouble.

13. The House webpage will update soon |
|
It updates pretty quickly now so the vote should be up there soon and I will monitor it to post it when I find the vote.
All I know is that Amo Houghton (R-NY) and Jim Leach (R-IA) are two Republicans that voted no because they spoke against it on the House floor. I don't know who else did but I think 27 Democrats voted yes and 17 Republicans voted no.

6. The House is now like the old Soviet Parliament |
|
It is merely a rubber stamp for the leader of the party.

This is the first time I really listened and I am stunned that such hateful people hold so much power. Also, I have yet to make any damned sense out of their arguments.

14. What is VERY upsetting to me |
|
is NOT that they are trying to keep the anti-gay marriage thing alive; it's that they are trying to LIMIT the powers of the courts. That is what should send chills down everyone's spine. In typical Republican fashion, when they can't win they try to cheat or change the rules. It's a travesty that there are a number of Democrats who can't see past the gay marriage issue to recognize how dangerous this is.
