Dollar-cost averaging, my friend. Things will get better, in the mean time we are all stocking up on very inexpensive shares. Assuming you are talking about equities, anyway. If you mean you are considering selling all of your worldy possesions and moving into a bomb shelter, then I highly recommend it. Sure is cozy down here.

I wouldn't put everything in any one thing. perhaps some gold and a tonno rice and beans, survival guides and first aid kits.
the best way to look at it, imho, is to believe that cash will be worthless.

4. I'd wait because the market should bum upward on October Surprise |
|
news (whichever ones the Busheviks have planned for us).
I'd change to Cash around late September, early-October, though you might miss the run up for the final installment of the October Surprise(s)

7. exactly. But if I had lsitened to my instinct in early 2001 |
|
which was to do just that to my 401(k) and IRAs, then I would have save thousands of lost dollars.
But follow your own advice, not mine.

I wouldn't convert my entire savings to gold, but having some around is probably prudent.
There is nothing paranoid, though, consideringthe Bushevik effect on our economy, of liquidating your stocks before November of this year.
If Kerry wins, reinvestment will be as "safe" as ever.
If Bunnypants* "wins", then, as Hunter S. Thompson said, "Big Darkness, come soon."

12. That's it, Tom. I've had it with you. First you impugn my satire, |
|
then you quote Hunter S. Thompson. I'm buddy-listing your ass. :spank:

in February, 2002, at $312. It's over $400 consistently, and will rise as the dollar takes more hits from the Euro. IMHO

... what is the upside potential compared to the downside risk?
I got out of stocks (90%+) over a year ago and I'm glad I did. When I look at the current economy, I see no reason whatsoever to be optimistic about equities.
I may get back in in 2-3 years when this has played out. I don't think it has as yet, and if Kerry doesn't get elected it won't for a decade.
Oh, and in the interest of full disclosure, I did buy a fair amount of gold and silver bullion :)

11. I did this right after Bu$h was selected. One of the best moves I ever |
|
made. But things are not quite as predictable now with an election coming up.
I am living very happily in Mexico now.
And I'll be even happier after Kerry is elected.
