Lehman just blew Hannity out of the water (OBL-Sudan-Clinton-Ijaz story) |
|
Edited on Thu Jul-22-04 04:51 PM by underpants
John Lehman (former secretary of the Navy and 9/11 commission member)was on Hannity's radio show. It started with the praise (read:thanks for covering their boys a**) and so on.
I stopped to run into the store and when I got back in the car I hear the oft played audio of Clinton saying that we had nothing to charge OBL with in '96 but that he plead the Saudis to arrest him and then we could do something with him.
Hannity leaves his bread-and-butter open for the moderateRepublican Lehman (~close quote):
Well I think this underscores how much of a danger BinLaden was and how aware everyone was of him. I do think that we are talking about semantics here as everyone knew that the Sudanese were going to kick him out of their country and the Saudis could have influenced the Sudan to extradite BinLaden to Saudi Arabia....we heard stories and reports about deals possibly being worked out (Hannity's buddy Moonsaur Ijaz -sp?-) but the source was not credible and the supposed go between was not credible (Ijaz) so we couldn't include it in our assessment or the report.....
Silence-I was looking around to see if any fellow driver's heads were exploding
Hannity couldn't let it go and he opened up his talking points: ~"I respectfully disagree... -This sounds like an offer was made otherwise how could Clinton be offering OBL to the Saudis -The Sudanese minister of ______ said that there was an offer -Clinton supporter Moonsaur Ijaz was the go between and he definitely said there was an offer -several news reports from USA Today and _______ reported that OBL was probably involved in the Khobar Towers and Embassy bombings.....
Lehman very nicely skirted having to tell Hannity that he had just explained that this pillar of the Hannitized was baseless and ridiculous.
The funniest part was that after all the glowing praise Hannity couldn't interrupt Lehman when it was obvious where his answer was going.

2. Edited for slopping typing-Plus this |

Lehman did preface it by saying that they only included FACTS and followed Hannity by saying that unlike the Warren commission they didn't slam doors shut but left them open to be further explored.
What in the world was that idiot thinking asking a sober calm rational man about something with so many (small and GAPING) holes in it? He probably has told it so often that HE is believing that big lie.

6. That might explain why Hannity thought he could get Lehman to go along |
|
with his story.
That is interesting but then Viacom isn't exactly Greenpeace or the CAP and I thought making money was what this country was all about.
As far as the Republicans being blindsided I seem to remember Hamilton's "Which is the truth?" question holding up "Against All Enemies" and the background brief courtesy of Fox News, if they were surprised they had planned on being "surprised".
At the end of the article Lehman also seems to brush off how important "the wall" was and thus neutralizes any arguments about the memos from Jamie Gorelick.
