What bothers me the most re: 911 report |
|
Edited on Thu Jul-22-04 07:38 PM by dennis4868
The 911 report is a slap in the face of Clinton when it says that both Bush and Clinton did not understand the seriousness of the threat. WTF? You can say that Clinton and his team made mistakes, but please dont tell me that he did not understand the seriousness of the threat. It is quite clear from the testimony at the 911 hearings (including Richard Clarke's testimony) and from others talking outside of the hearings that worked in the government that Clinton was obsessesed with the threat....they held meeting after meeting each week with all cabinet members....they "shook the trees" as Clarke said which helped stop a terrorist attack at the end of 1999, and many other attacks during that time. (Plus, Clinton did bomb the al qaeda camps and everyone in the media/repubs start yelling NO WAR FOR MONICA!) It is like the commission just ignored all of that. How can the commission say that both Bush and Clinton did not take it serious when Clinton did and Bush goes on a vacation and holds no cabinet level meetings to "shake the trees" after getting a PDB that says, Bin Laden Determined to Attack in the United States. Very sad that we did not get an objective finding of the happenings of 911.

I did not think it was going to hang Bush...but I thought it would at least give credit where credit is due for Clinton.

2. I agree...it's also sad that Bush cannot withstand any blame on his own |
|
The minute they agreed to do the commission, they reached back to drag Clinton in. How sick are these people? When will the madness end?

4. Good post and you are right about Clinton |
|
Janet Reno and other cabinet members from the Clinton adminstration testified they took terrorism VERY seriously.
Chimpy, Rice, Powell and Asscroft did NOT.
Furthermore, shouldnt Asscroft be prosecuted for perjury? For that is what he did when he testified before the commission.

5. It was Ashcroft who.... |
|
said to his assistant, "I dont want to hear another word about terrorism." This was testified too during the hearings. The WH even tried to cut the counterterrorism budget....

When you are the President anything that is wrong, or could, might have been done is your fault. Like the Captain of a ship. The Boss is always responsible.
