1. No, because I am not a people person. |
|
After interacting with people at work all day I can't bring myself to do more of it on my time off. Just can't do it.

I find it incredibly boring. That's bad I know, but I can't help it. Talking about zoning doesn't exactly get me worked up.

5. This year is the first time for me since 1976. |

That is how important this election is to me. This year I am a precinct "captain". I went to the caucuses, the county convention and have walked my precinct. I will spend a lot of my valuable time after the primary to get the vote out in November.

But I live in a weird place. Too weird to describe, politically or economically. Suffice it to say that if you ever wanted to know where all the retired CIA and NASA people live, come to Florence Oregon. At least that's what every old guy I've ever met has told me.

8. starting this year ... |
|
i'm volunteering for Karen Spilka who is my current state rep but is running for the State Senate ... she's great ...
i got involved when i joined the democratic party (switched from "unenrolled") so that i could wake up the comatose democrats in my town ... i was, and am still appalled by the apathy in the party (i live in massachusetts) ... the democratic party here is a joke ... they do nothing and have no statewide energy ... i guess there are so many registered dems and independents who vote dem that they don't feel the need to organize ...
of course, it would be nice to win a governship every once and awhile ... it's been way too long ...
anyway, yes, i actively participate in local politics ... remember, all politics is (are?) local ... even national politics ...

Local's where it all starts. I am currently working on the campaign of a Dem challenging a Rep incumbent for state representative.
I also just finished working on a school board member's re-election campaign against a crazy fundie rightwinger who wants to put the Ten Commandments on display in all our schools and have no homework on Wednesday nights because of church. He was DEFEATED soundly, yee-ha!
I'm also looking into what is going on with my state senators, etc. I used to be represented by Martin Frost but because of the #$%*$ repukes in Austin and their redistricting, I am losing him. So I gotta see what's up with that.
I attend my city's democrat club meetings and the county meetings and I'm a member of my county's Stonewall Democrats group.

10. No, 'cause they're all dumb Republican morons around here. |
|
I'd end up punching their faces in and going to jail. Now what would that accomplish?

11. Find your county and/or city |
|
Dem organization. Start hooking up with them.
Another good option is to go to the Kerry website and find some local events going on for Kerry right there where you live. Go to THOSE and you will find some good ol' local Dems and start networking.
You HAVE to find each other, start communicating, exchange phone numbers, emails, start talking, meeting. That's exactly why you are surrounded by dumb repuke morons. Start making the repukes feel like they are surrounded by brilliant Democrats! LOL!
