Group May Attack Media at Democrats Convention-FBI

BOSTON (Reuters) - The FBI (news - web sites) said on Friday it was investigating "unconfirmed information" of a possible attack on media vehicles during the Democratic National Convention, which begins on Monday in Boston.

"The FBI has received unconfirmed information that a domestic group is planning to disrupt the Democratic National Convention by attacking media vehicles with explosives or incendiary devices," the Federal Bureau of Investigation's Boston field office said in a statement.

The FBI said members of the Boston Joint Terrorism Task Force were investigating, and that it would provide more details if there is "any credible information."

A spokeswoman for the Boston FBI told Reuters that the bureau had notified media organizations of the probe because they were potential targets.

1. I bet it's the protest warrior crowd.
But maybe it's the Michigan militia. One can never tell.

4. Hmmm...you don't suppose?
Do ya think maybe this is designed to "discourage" media coverage of the convention? Gosh, the Repubs wouldn't do that, would they?

I keep saying nothing much surprises me anymore, and this shouldn't either, I guess, though I was caught a bit offguard. When I was at a showing of "Outfoxed" Sunday night, a lady shared with me that she was truly concerned about big attacks during both conventions, and that Kerry, Edwards, and other top Dem officials should not appear together, as should not Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, etc. at the Repub convention. I tended to discount that concern, but this thing about the media being at risk: Pretty apparent to me what's up with that. Or maybe it's just because I remain--

7. I think it's a matter of "President Bush will protect the Democrats...
...because they can't protect themselves at their own convention."

Bush is doing too much "I will protect you" stumping. If nothing's going to happen to me, you cannot protect me from it. In order for you to PROVE that you are protecting me, something needs to happen, you need to "stop" it, then you become my "protector."

Bush knows this.

5. Anti-abortionists

I news channel this morning speculated it could be anti-abortion groups. It was in a thread around here somewhere...

Just speculation.

I do just love how the FBI says they have to be secretive about the nature of the threat for security reasons. Whose security? Wouldn't want to actually let us know who might be doing this when it could be some group that supports Bush, after all.

8. don't you think this is a good way to prevent most riots?
I just heard this report on CNN about the "unconfirmed attacks" on the media. Though I doubt it would deter any dedicated terror attack, I suspect it would stop, or at least slow down, most pi**ed of Pugs, and i think that's one thing the police and secret service are worried about.

Think about it. If you were planning something and you heard parts of your plan announced in the media, wouldn't it give you pause?

9. Are they trying to scare off the media from covering the convention?
I wouldn't be surprised. Less media - less coverage

10. A heads up to all media
Don't allow anyone from Fox around your trailers. Don't park by a Fox trailer. Don't stand next to any Fox reporters with baggie clothing on............................those boys ARE domestic terrorists. In addition, watch out for people listening to Limbaugh. Not bin Laden's boys but bin Limbaugh's boys are the ones to fear at this convention.
