the WH is awfully happy-face about the 9-11 report |
|
I've seen nothing but praise from the WH and Republicans for the 9-11 commission's report. And they should be happy about it! But wouldn't ya think they could be clever enough to pick on a couple of little niggling details in order to not sound too giddy at not catching blame?
Oh, wait. The objective is to make the whole thing go away. So they won't make ANY NEWS about it. (Get the shovel, Henry, we're burying this suckah NOW!)

1. 5M spent to produce just what everyone predicted on the very |

first day they met!!! The propganda is becoming so predictable in this nation that you can call the game before it ever begins. That report is disgraceful. It still does not address the essential point that whomever is sitting in the Oval Office when things go "boom" is responsible for it. It doesn't address why our national chicken clown disappeared for the entire day on 9/11. I feel for those families.

4. I wonder how much it cost us to buy off this bogus comission |

I don't think the 9-11 family members are going to let this travesty stand.

5. this report does anything but absolve them of culpability |
|
The reason they are acting so damned happy about it is because that makes people think the report is all good for them. It isn't. This report is highly critical of Bush and his people, it flatly contradicts their accounts of events in places and makes Bush out to be completely unable to make a decision at a time of great crisis. (his biggest concern over the first 30 minutes after hearing of the attack is what he is going to say about it. He didn't even call the Pentagon fer crissakes. The Commander-In-Chief upon learning that our nation was under attack made no attempt to contact our military. for 30 friggin minutes.
Everyone on DU is saying this thing is a whitewash but they obviously havent read it. Pick up a copy and read it. Then when some right-wing schmuck tells you that it's all good news for Bush you'll be able to point out some relevant info directly from the report.
For example the report clearly states that the United States military had planned for and done exercises around the potential of terrorists using airplanes as weapons in the late 1990's (in direct contradiction of Condi Rice).
This thing NOT good for Bush.

6. Remember what the Bushies did for Bob Woodward's book? |
|
Put it on their "Recommended Reading" list?
That way they confused the public and defused its bombshells.
This, by the way, is a far more sophisticated Orwellian technique than they are wont to use. (Usually, they just say the complete opposite of what they mean--"I'm a compassionate conservative!"--and that does the trick.)
