PATRIOT ACT II will be rolled out soon...
The Patriot Act II will be rolled out soon. The set up is already beginning. I hate to say it, but here go again. The Democrats are on TV running their mouths for CHANGES to be made just like they did back in 2001 after the COUP was solidified that terrible day. Right after 911 , the democrats run their mouths for action to be done and that we couldn't waste any time, we had to hurry and not waste a day, then the Repubs jumped on and RAMMED the Patriot Act thru Congress. The same thing is about to happen again....... This country is gone. FORGET it people.... It is over... the fix is in.....

1. What horseshit!
It would help if we even had one branch of Government in control but we don't. I think the Drmocrats have done a great job! Just a recent example the 3 nut judges that were blocked.

2. I posted on this earlier
and got two responses on it. Maybe you'll do better, because, brother(sister) you are right on target. And it will be a full "bipartisan" effort.

War on terror: False advertising
posted 5/16/02

Andrew Lander
Is the War over yet, daddy? On our TV screens, President George W. Bush, the man whose grandfather reportedly helped fund Adolph Hitler, stands as the protector of all that is wholesome and good. Paraphrasing Jesus, he says those who aren't with him and his allies are against them, but omits the second half of the thought.

It's War, and the perfect one at that; no specific goal besides the eradication of all opposition, and no time limit. The enemy is terrorism, an amazingly amorphous movement, devoid of boundaries, whose members can allegedly be your next door neighbors.

What is terrorism? Webster's New World College Dictionary defines it in part as "the use of force or threats to demoralize, intimidate, or subjugate."

The US government never does any of that. And if it does, it only does it against The Bad Guys.

Such terms are open to arbitrary application. Palestinian militants who blow themselves up in order to kill innocent Israelis are condemned, and rightly so. But when the Israeli army crushes the Jenin refugee camp, the US media makes hardly a peep, and there is no uproar over their refusal to allow the United Nations to investigate. When Saddam Hussein or Slobodan Milosevich does that, it's because they have something to hide. When Ariel Sharon does it, it's because he's just participating in the War on Terrorism and for some reason should be exempt from scrutiny, even after the fact

8. IIRC
Parts of it have been attached to other bills. Whether they passed or not, I do not know.

In my county, we have already begun forming a committee and an anti-proposal.

We began by showing a Bill Moyers video that discusses what Number Two (huge ass document) entails.

10. watching the hearings
I felt the commission was at times functioning as a cheer leading squad for the PATRIOT act.

The ACLU however found some positive aspects to the report:

9/11 Commission Report Takes on Patriot Act,
Government Secrecy; ACLU Outlines Civil
Liberties Problems With Cabinet-Level Spymaster
ACLU | Press Release

Thursday 22 July 2004

Washington - The official 9/11 Commission report, released today, takes aim at the USA Patriot Act and the excessive amount of official secrecy in the Bush administration.

"Regarding civil liberties, the 9/11 Commission report essentially says that the Justice Department and White House have not made a compelling case for either the administration’s obsession with secrecy or its Patriot Act," said Anthony D. Romero, ACLU Executive Director. "This bipartisan report should serve as a wake-up call for Congress that it must maintain the sunsets in the Patriot Act."

As the report states on page 394, "The burden of proof for retaining a particular governmental power should be on the executive, to explain (a) that the power actually materially enhances security and (b) that there is adequate supervision of the executive’s use of the powers to ensure protection of civil liberties. If the power is granted, there must be adequate guidelines and oversight to properly confine its use."

The long-awaited report, which contains the official findings of the independent commission investigating the 9/11 terrorism attacks, contains significant recommendations germane to the debate over civil liberties that has raged for more than two-and-a-half years now.

11. How much do you want to bet
they are going to use the newest invention - "no court may review this law"?

The marriage act the house just passed was a trial balloon... Now that they have seen how easily they got away with it the repubs in congress will start adding this to many of their fascist unconstitutional bills.
