Draft 05: Republicans claim fear tactic |
|
Would George actually ask congress to approve the draft if he is reelected? The military is facing recruiting trouble, halt orders on those who have served their terms, countries are slowly pulling out of Iraq, military deaths and wounded numbers are rising, the global war on terrors next stop may be Iran, and the constant reqeust for more troops in Iraq.

Of course the draft is coming. If he's re-(s)elected he'll do it before Christmas. Even if Kerry wins the draft is coming. If he plans to stay in Iraq for another year or more it's unavoidable.

3. I have no doubt of it. |

I do have doubts that Kerry would reinstate. Correct me someone if I'm wrong, but hasn't Kerry already said he was not in favor?

when Gorge gets in again (and he will, no doubt about it so don't get too optimistic, the fall will be harder to take), just imagine what he's capable of as a 'lame duck' in a red alert world.... he'll have godlike powers at his disposable ...

I have no doubt of it.
And the media will try to paint it as some kind of a noble call-to-arms to "defend" America and the American way of life, instead of as the coercion to kill for the Bush Agenda that it really is.

7. Does this violate their monopoly on fear tactics? |
|
Aren't they saying terrorism will go gonzo when Kerry is president? Fear is their currency.

8. Whoever puts the draft on in 05 won't be around in 09. |
|
The quickest way to turn the country against you is to bring back a draft.

If Kerry does it you're right he won't be around, but if Bush does it, we can probably expect him and the Republicans to make that grab for total power. Making this the last time we have a real election for a long time, or perhaps BushCo will allow the same kind of elections that Saddam had.
If Bush is re-selected and brings back the draft, only half of the country will turn against him, he will still have his Evangelicals to help him in his war against evil, not mention the groups that don't like anything dark near them, and perhaps a resurgence in the militia movement. This will give George the boots on the ground to keep the American people in line, and those that want to resist, will simply disappear.
And please don't say it can't happen, it's already happened, only it wasn't here, and it was about 70 years ago, but it did happen.
