One office, one person, to oversee all intelligence. Responsible...
... for assimilating all intelligence, making evaluations based on that information.

One office, one person, to tie it all together.

One person, one office, to provide accountability (as a Republican Senator just stated on NPR a few minutes ago).

Ummm....

Isn't that the President?

Isn't that the White house?

Yup. You're right.
Well, maybe he could have a special assistant. To be called something like "National Security Adviser".

Sounds like a plan.

4. I actually think that's the job description of the Nat'l Security Advisor.
I posted this yesterday. What is the job of Nat'l Security Advisor? Another poster said it's not a Cabinet Position. Well, fine, just make it a Cabinet Position. That's got to be a much easier thing to do than creating a new position and another level of bureaucracy.

6. In addition, that was why the CIA (and its Director) was created.
Edited on Fri Jul-23-04 02:45 PM by Brotherjohn
But what it all comes down to, and where the biggest part of this whitewash is (with 9-11, but especially with Iraq), is that the White House makes the policy, the White House makes the decisions.

I've said it a thousand times before, and I'll keep saying it. The CIA did not decide to invade Iraq. The White House decided to invade Iraq.

If they are unthinking parrots of the intelligence agencies, unable to evaluate what is being fed to them or tie any of it together, then they are incompetent.

10. BrotherJohn you make a good point
Yes, they(whitehouse) decide whether the intelligence is good or these threats are real , but I think we all know whether we agree or disagree with them that this is the most inept administration in the history of the presidency.

5. In a Free Country, that would be true. Imperial Amerika requires a
Head of Secret Police, just like any other Totalitarian Nation.

13. I post this "shit", as you put it, because I have yet to hear anyone...
... make this incredibly obvious point in the media anywhere. After months and years of talking about whether the intelligence was right, whether we could have prevented 9-11, whether Iraq was a threat, whether we needed to invade.

Everyone talks about the quality of the intelligence, and whenever any accountability is assigned, it is always aimed at intelligence.

You would think the White House is a robot programmed by the CIA and the FBI. "We can't help it!! We were only doing what the CIA told us!"

Wah wah wah. Where's the accountability at the top? Everytime I hear someone mention the quality of the CIA's intelligence, i just say "The CIA didn't decide to invade Iraq. The White House did. Bush did. BUSH made the wrong decision."
