?WR: Now that I can catch my breath.....
?WR: Now that I can catch my breath.....

As many of my DU friends know, a long period of development came to fruition with the opening performances of "The Question W Revue" in NYC on 7/12.

During that period my partner and I wrote at least twice as many songs as would ultimately make the final cut (and I wrote enough parodies for a medley mini-series!); we changed our cast and musical director; changed our venue; and went through all the dramas and comedies that are part of 'putting on a show.'

Well, it seems we did well. Audience (and critical) response has been very positive and we're just thrilled. Much of the feedback has included something like "it's like Fahrenheit 9/11, the musical!" Which is fine with me. Everything in the show was written and in rehearsal long before the movie came out but, there are so many overlaps of themes, the comparison is inevitable and, as far as I'm concerned, a compliment.

Our audiences have been very smart. And, they're not only laughing at the jokes, they're applauding them.

Like this one from our faux RW gospel number:
Until they're born we will fight for each baby,
After that kids, you're on your own!

This floored me. I know that DUers could write the footnotes but...

We know we're preaching to the choir but, the choir deserves a chance to kick back and have a few laughs, don't they?

We have volunteers from a local GOTV group passing out info after every show. This really seemed to surprise AAR host Laura Flanders when we were on her show last week, (Link to mp3 of the interview here: www.questionw.com.) but, GOTV is a very strong core message of our show.

There's been a wonderful upbeat energy in the room after every performance. We're not going to change the world with this, but, I hope it's one more good thing among many many others!

1. Gee, I'm sorry I live in Ohio
not only because I can't enjoy your revue in person but also because, uh, um, well because I live in Ohio.

Congats on what appears to be a winner!

I am planning to make a video available sometime in early September.

it won't be a 'for-profit' thing just enough to cover dupe and shipping costs.

3. That's just fabulous, Nostamj
Hooray for you and all your colleagues!!

Where's it playing? I've got 2 stepkids in NYC (with their spouses) and one of them is a budding playwright herself (or wannabe, perhaps). I'd love to suggest they see it.

How long are you booked for? Any major reviews you care to share yet? Any comments from audience members? How I wish I could see it...

So happy that your hard work is paying off!

5. i can't quote the MAJOR reviews yet but
we know they are going to be raves and will be released to help the August dates (ie. not right now while we're on hiatus!)

here are two posting from a cabaret message board though:

One word sums it up....FABULOUS!!! You guys outdid yourselves..Entertaining while remaining thought provoking and moving..and the cast...WOW..Miles,Rob, wonderful and SUE and JOAN..I have never seen you guys better.. the commitment from the cast, just great. The parodies, the songs, Jeff & Brooks, I can not say enough...GO SEE IT...

Subject line:  MICHAEL MOORE does a cabaret review

nope, but if he did it would be

The Question W revue

I saw the revue last night and have to say, it wasn't what I expected...it was even better!

This is a funny, clever, smart, in your face, fast paced and, at times, a moving show.
The audience was so up at the end of the show. .. I'm sure they'll VOTE! Please go.

Bring conseratives and watch them squirm!!!
Sounds like fun to me.

It's not just some wonderful original music but some GREAT parodies on very famous songs that will have you cracking up. Where else can you see Joan Crowe, Rob Langeder, Sue Matsuki and Miles Philips on one stage?
