Why did they say that Bush's records were "destroyed" just a week ago??
Yet, they show up today? Who told them they had been destroyed? Did they just make it up out of the blue and tell the media the records had been destroyed, not knowing if they had been destroyed or not? Why would they lie about it one week ago, only to have their words totally shot down this week? There's just a little dishonesty at work here, don't you think?

3. Because they hoped that would fly
if Rush & Co. spun it as hard as they could...and it flopped.

So now they're found, glory hallelujah, and don't say squat about whether he served.

So to sum up...he claimed to have pay records that would show he served...
He said he released the records already
He said the records were destroyed
And now he found the records and they don't show that he served...

Can you say "incompetent goon", boys and girls?

6. The records in Denver were "destroyed", but those weren't the only copies.
The fact that there HAD to be other copies of these records was strenuously pointed out on this very board (and elsewhere) at the time of the "destroyed" records story's emergence.

Short version: We were right, there WERE other copies.

8. There were other copies and the press was going to release them.
By releasing them themselves, BushCo hopes to lay the matter to rest.

Classic Friday night dump.

I don't think it will work. The American media are highly simplistic, for the most part, but they do tend to understand this kind of thing.

12. I Think These Records
are an embarrassment to Bush, and prove he didn't serve for 8 months, thereby being technically AWOL.

I wish someone would just point that out (besides Max Cleland)often and loudly.

11. My Belief Is Different Than Most
I believe that the most powerful groups in this country will work to bring down Bush in this election.

1. The Pentagon. By dissing the professionals who wanted more troops and a plan for occupation, Rumsfeld, Wolfowitz, Cheney, and Bush overruled generals like Zinni and a host of others. Some were sacked for giving an honest and accurate estimate of the costs in both men and treasure. In addition, this absurd notion of having privatized so much of the operations in Iraq and Afghanistan has eroded the Pentagon budget and their influence. These records were "found" to purposely embarrass Bush just before the D.N.C.

2. The CIA. By blaming the CIA for the inaccurate intel leading up to the war in Iraq, after influencing the decision in the first place, must piss them off. Cheney didn't "visit" the CIA a reported 11 times during the run-up to the war to just have coffee. Now that the shit hits the fan, they get the blame. As evidenced, the book by "Anonymous" is a rare and unprecedented critique of a sitting President's Administration. They probably don't take to kindly to outing one of their own, either (Val Plame).

3. The FBI. They must be just thrilled that so many agents warned of the upcoming threat during the early months of 2001, only to be ignored. The Phoenix memo is just one of many examples. Then, after the tragedy, President Asshole pins a large amount, if not all, of the blame on them. I'm sure they just think that's swell.

My point is, that these are pretty powerful enemies to make, and I believe, in the months leading up to the election, these folks, and others, will surprise us by doing all they can to assist us in the defeat of the worst, dumbest, and most dangerous man to ever serve in the White House.

I know this is a far out theory, but you just mark these words, and see whether or not I'm accurate. Time will tell.

groups Bush wants pissed off at him. Hopefully all sorts of things will "turn up" now :D

17. I really really really want to believe this.
Lord knows I need something to regain at least some faith in some of the institutions of the Federal government. Now, if they could just get it together to frog march him and Cheney out of the WH in chains, I might actually begin to think there was some real hope for us yet!
