Can we test all of the cows now?

2. Eventually somebody will find it also exists in the soils
just like anthrax does. I mean, it comes from somewhere and wild deer also get it. Why can it not exist naturally like so many other pathogens?

3. Damn! I thought I was safe
I'm a ovo-lacto vegetarian, but try to limit the dairy to organic sources not only to ward off Mad Cow, but to keep from imbibing all the hormones and antibiotics.

6. Well, I've heard that gummi bears
or anything gelatin-based could possibly contain it too.

13. Yes, I didn't see your post
before I commented on this, below.

Many people have mad cow disease and don't realize it, yet.

It will be a BIG issue soon.

11. I wouldn't be too concerned as the report was from 1997.
There are naturally occuring cases of vCJD.

12. Mad cow prions have been found in gelatin and cosmetics
Nothing seems safe anymore. I try to limit capsuled medicines...but now I have to worry about hand lotions, etc??? Not to mention the dentist. Autoclaves don't kill mad cow prions.

14. Bone meal
Bone meal is a very widely used fertilizer for vegetables. Since bone marrow is a source of mad cow anyone who does gardening is at risk.

15. Actually.. there are other types of Cruetzfeld-Jacob diseases...
.. it can be linked to other things. This was in 1997? Obviously, it's not something rampant. I'm not really worried.
