Poll question: First African American President?
You know it's coming, maybe even within our lifetimes. (but bear in mind there are DUers as young as 13...)

So, who's gonna be the "Jackie Robinson" of politics?

5. Hey! I resemble that remark!
Last time I checked, Hawai'i was very definitely part of the U.S.

http://starbulletin.com/2004/03/21/news/story4.html

Veteran political observers and Democratic Party insiders throughout the country had written off this Hawaii-born civil rights lawyer, law professor and Illinois state senator who was trying to win that state's Democratic nomination for U.S. senator

It is Obama's father who is from Kenya.

6. Harold Ford is a powerful young man.
I tend to think he'll be VP first, then president. And the world will be a better place.

8. Harold Ford, that's his name
Awhile ago when this question was asked, I thought about this man from Tenessee who's always on CNN but I couldn't think of his name.

But it's Ford!!! I like him alot but I voted for Obama.

10. Not unless he renounces the DLC and quits hanging out with Moonies
Because after this election, I'll have absolutely no tolerance for anyone associating with either group. Ford's far too young to be as conservative as he already is. (See Kerry 1971 vs Kerry 2004)

11. The GOP is very nervous about Obama
On another board I post on some nut was saying how important it was that he is defeated this year...because he is a very dangerous canidate. I wouldn't mind seeing him run 2012, but 2016 at the latest. He is definitely a rising star.

13. Running for office always seems to bring out the best in Al
going back to a four-way N.Y. Senate primary in which Al acted like a grownup while three other Dems had a food fight and ended up handing the seat back to Al D'Amato (R-Influence Peddler). This was when he hooked up with Cornel West.

I probably blocked himn out subconsciously because I could hear the RW spin machine at maximum volume: "Tawana Brawley! Tawana Brawley! Ra-a-a-ack! Polly want a cracker! Tawana Brawley! Ra-a-ack!"

And the past is quite a while in the past. He seems to be very well respected by most people in general.

18. Last year I would have predicted Harold Ford.
Edited on Fri Jul-23-04 07:04 PM by blm
Now, I would have to say Obama has the better chance with Ford still a strong possibility.

I dunno....It depends on the progress of the people of this country. Unfortunately for the human race, still too many will be put off by the "firrun soundin" name of Obama yet somewhat accepting of Harold Ford because his name sounds more Amurican.

even someone of Southern or Eastern European heritage winning. I bet we would see an italian, greek, slavic, jewish, hispanic or asian before an african american.

25. I don't like this question, just because it is asked.
it shouldn't have to be asked what colour your skin is that holds your abilities and brain in it.
epidermus colour has got nothing to do with anything... cept in the freest country in the world, I suppose. /sarc.
