Kerry calling for vets to come to Boston on 7/26

Forward this email to your fellow veterans, and ask them to sign up for Veterans for Kerry.

Dear Fellow Veterans for Kerry-Edwards,

Come join Max Cleland, General Wesley Clark, and other distinguished veterans on Monday, July 26, and help us fill the Sheraton Grand Ballroom in Boston with veterans who support John Kerry and John Edwards. This exciting event will feature James Carville as the master of ceremonies. Click here to send an immediate RSVP, and help us make this event a success.

This event will go down in history as the first ever Democratic National Convention veterans' caucus. Our own Max Cleland (the leader of the Veterans-for-Kerry effort), is this year's honorary veterans' caucus chairman.

The national press will be present, so it is critical that there is a large veteran presence. Please wear your VFW caps, ribbons, Veterans-for-Kerry pins and shirts, and other identifying veteran-related clothing.

This is the first veterans event of convention week. This is a call to action -- we need you there to show the nation that veterans support John Kerry and John Edwards.

WHEN: Monday, July 26
12:50 p.m to 1:50 p.m.

WHERE: Sheraton Boston Hotel -- Grand Ballroom
39 Dalton Street
Boston, MA

DETAILS: Please RSVP by emailing mdrezner@americansforkerry.com. For security reasons we need to have a list of attendees, so please RSVP as soon as possible by sending an email to the above address.

Veterans have been the heart and soul of this campaign and will be key to winning in November. Please come join us to show that veterans stand with John Kerry and John Edwards.

See you there,

Veterans for Kerry-Edwards

2. Veteran Related Clothing
I don't have any veteran-related clothing, and there's a good reason. The service organizations are notoriously right wing. Despite how miserably Bush has treated veterans, just watch who they endorse! The American Legion, the VFW and the DAV will urge their members to vote Republican. Fuck that.

Democrats seek veterans' support

David Espo THE ASSOCIATED PRESS

WASHINGTON -- David Gorman of the Disabled American Veterans says Democrats "right now are the only audience we have" that is receptive to calls for additional federal money for more than 26 million men and women who served in the military.

"There's nobody on the other side who will do anything about it," he says of the congressional Republicans who hold power.

11. Vets Orgs Always Endorse Republicans
There's no way that any of the Big Three veteran's organizations are going to endorse a Democrat. There's just no way that's going to happen. Please don't pretend that this isn't true.

Go buy an American Flag on a USA hat ,Or Eagle, I would send you my United Veterans Hat if I had anymore. But I know Kerry has Vets for Kerry hats. Then go by the Army Navy store and buy the little pins you put on there. Like whatever medal, even good conduct, you got.
The CIB, bronze star, etc. There is little minature medals at the Army Navy store.(Put them on the hat) Then you go buy a windbreaker and again go to the Army Navy store and have a small Flag sewed onto your sleeve. Then get a Kerry/Edwards Vet sticker and stick on your otheside of the jacket. Vets for Kerry. If you have camoflauge pants wear them.
This is what they mean. I wish I had of been ahead of the curve on this one, I could have sent all of you some pins and things. Go to Vets for Justice Website or Kerry Website and if you don't have time. Do what I said. My vet has done it for years and never but never depended on the big orgs.

gotten this organized weeks ago.But then again, I imagine the ballroom will only hold so many and I'm betting they'll fill it. :toast:

9. VFW had Kerry speak at their convention in summer of 2003.
Rumsfeld and Rice spoke and didn't get much applause. Kerry got enthusiastic applause from the vets there.

Too bad the press barely mentioned it at the time.

I highly doubt the VFW would endorse Bush.
