I was perusing the NY Times VERY briefly this morning, specifically the posting of the executive summary of the 9/11 report. What a crock of shit.
Just the factually challenged, and wholly skewed crap about the Predator drones in Afghanistan is BS.
Listen to this shit:
"At a September 4 meeting, President Bush's chief advisers approved the draft directive of the strategy and endorsed the concept of arming the Predator. This directive on the al Qaeda strategy was awaiting President Bush's signature on September 11, 2001."
What spin-droid BULLSHIT!!
Approved the concept of arming the Predators?
Clinton approved a feasibility test program in August of 200, we had initial test-firings in Feb, 16, 2001... And the final test flight was completed Feb. 21, 2001. The success of the program was reported in public on May 12, 2001 (
http://www.checkpoint-online.ch/CheckPoint/J4/J4-0003-PredatorHellfireMissileTests.html).
So in February 2001, the Air Force had successfully test fired Hellfire missiles from a Predator UAV. The CIA appropriated the capability and used Predators to fire at, as well as track, key targets in Afghanistan. (

There was a crash of Predator in the testing but officials anticipated putting Predators back in the air as early as March 2001 after the weather improved, but no Predators are flown over Afghanistan until after 9/11.
So only on Sept. 4th, according to this "report" of the 9/11 commission... Bush only "approved of the concept" of "arming Predators"....?
