A new outrage. congress ignores 9/11 report
Only after reports from Amazon.com that the joint 9/11 report was a top seller, did Rep. Hastert state that "We'll get to it in a few months." The outrage that followed his comments cause him to schedule "a hearing in August. I was misquoted. "

A hearing. When we feel like it. Up yours, American people. We know what is best for you. And we are too busy going on vacation, heading to conventions, and getting campaign funds to work on anything substantial. Especially if it entails hard work.

IS ANYONE ELSE AS OUTRAGED AT THE CONGRESS AND THE WHITE HOUSE - AT THEIR LACK OF RESPONSE TO THE 9/11 REPORT?

To paraphrase Animal House's pre-parade meeting:

Every incumbent. OUT
Denny Hastert OUT
George Bush OUT
John Ashcroft OUT
FBI directer Mueller OUT
Condi Rice OUT
Dick Cheney OUT

We, the concerned citizens of the USA, need to replace each and every D and R currently in office who does not react to the urgent message in the 9/11 report with a proper sense of purpose, responsibility, uurgency and duty to our country. Off with their heads. This is our country, WE decide who gets to stay in office. And if they don't fix problems of their own making, let's fire them. Right Now.

1. I think they said last night he turned tails after the Democrats and
Senators Snow and Lieberman! said the senate was going to stick around to try to do something about the report.
As far as I remember, last night they said that Hastert "hastily" had reversed himself and said they are going to work in subcommittees through the summer. What I suspect is that the Democrats will be left out of the process. He might have waited to see how many democrats left town and then announced the reversal so they have difficulty coming back (I might be too "conspiracy tin-hat").
Whatever happens, Hastert appearing in public and saying the house would not do anything until next year is ridiculous and will be remembered.

Shields (NewsHour) said that they had time to discuss flag burning and gay marriage... therefore if a gay AlQaida coupled got married in Massachusetts and burned the flag, they might pay attention to AlQaida.

2. Do they honestly think we're not paying attention?
They don't seem to understand that Americans (left and right) have NOT moved on to another topic. 9/11 is still very fresh in everyone's minds, and fear of another attack is never far below the surface.

3. If I were a candidate, I would use this issue against the incumbent....
Skipping out to a vacation, when they could have spent another week or two and addressed the solutions proposed by the Commisssion. They are irresponsible and have provided no oversight to the Executive Branch for 8 years now. They need to be replaced.

5. and I thought it was just me getting angry
What is it with these yahoos? Does living inside the beltway affect people's ability to think straight? Is there something in the water?

Here we have a detailed, extensive, plainly written WARNING about how we are at risk. To make it even clearer, it has a paint by numbers suggestion for fixing the problem.

I don't get it. As devious and pathetic as Hastert is, he is a wrestler, not a brainiac. He can never be so subtle as to wait for dems to leave, then change his mind. But did he miss the boat on the 9/11 report? you betcha!. I hope he pays, and pays dearly in November.

What ever happened to their oath to
"preserve and protect"?

6. I was so ticked the other day...all I could say was 4 letter words
they had time to vote discrimination in...but they don't have time for security...

everyone has said bush did nothing when clinton told him this was a big deal...they did their rounds of news places saying they took this serious...

and here they are doing a repeat of the whole scenario again...they are doing nothing..just like they did when they came into office...

they are showing the public and the world they don't care about security. They only care about gay marriage....

BushCo is a corporate monopoly that manipulates the media and congress. Congress is afraid to do anything bush disappoves of....bush is like the mafia....he goes after anyone who does not support him and destroys them.

7. Of course they are not going to respond. They never wanted
to investigate in the first place. They are part of it.

8. the white house, true
Congress, repukes and dems all, forced it on him.

Rove was really afeared of the timing. Anything in July might just impact the election.

I just ordered my copy. Should get it on monday.

10. It sounds like they think there is going to be another attack very soon
Maybe they arn't telling the American public something:
that they are leaving Washington at this time because to protect themselve from getting killed.
What better time for an attack than at the Democratic Convention having all their political enemies taken out at once.
Doesn't this make sense?

government buildings and airports, but leave everyone else wide open?

As if the AQ would try the same tricks a second time. Do we think they are that stupid?
Does Homeland Security really believe that the AQ doesn't read Tom Clancy? or doesn't have some creative people on staff, thinking of ways to avoid HS crap?

Just yesterday morning, I received a truck delivery to my studio.

It had three big tanks of propane, 10 oxygen tanks, each 5 ft high, a bunch of acetylene (including a couple of tanks for me) and nitro-argon mixes for mig/tig, and a few tanks of compressed hydrogen.

A small truck, ready to blow up any building, any bridge or any tunnel in the midwest. Plus, enough nitrogen-argon mix to asphyxiate any commercial building through their AC system.

Where was Homeland Security? Do we need it? I don't think so. The idea of having to register simply to do metal art work is inconceivable to me. But if I were evil and wishing to create havoc, simply forcing me to take off my shoes at an airport ain't gonna stop me. If anything, that false sense of security would aid my movements, PLUS, the disruptions and abuse of the general public are victories in their own right.
