Repugs endangering NYC by holding convention there? Selfish!
Edited on Sat Jul-24-04 09:43 AM by gauguin57
OK, so Bush sits for seven minutes in an elementary school on 9/11, endangering the children (not knowing whether he's another target).

Now, in order to capitalize on 9/11, the Repugs are meeting in NYC next month. During their own heightened terror warning period. Probably attracting even more attention to NYC on the part of the terrorists. Endangering the citizens again.

I think they're just being selfish, as usual.

1. The idea was to remind people of 911
and the masterful way it was handled. Of course now, with everything coming out to the contrary, could be that Shrubco wishes they had chosen a friendlier venue.

Hope all you New Yorkers put the slash W sign in your windows as a silent protest.

5. That's a very important point to remember
New York was chosen so the GOP could tie itself into 9-11 fervor.
Now Bush is not even going down to the site because he doesn't want to remind people how badly his administration fucked up.

But this is typical Republicanism, the act on "good" ideas without thinking them through.
Well, actually they act on simplistic ideas, but even these they can't think through.

8. W won't go near Ground Zero
cause I don't think all the kings horses and all the kings men, would be able to put him back together again.

12. If you'll recall, they were supposed to lay the cornerstone that week
There was supposed to be a ceremony either during or directly following the RNC convention to lay the cornerstone at the WTC site. Pataki was rushing everybody to make sure it could be done in time.

Instead, mysteriously, the cornerstone was laid a week or so ago. What happened? BushCO afraid of the backlash for their exploitation of the dead who were murdered on GEORGE BUSH'S WATCH.

3. But he DID know he wasn't a target. Also, I believe Jeb had declared
Marshall Law in Florida on the 7th. No one has ever said why.
Makes it even more interesting that when the Chief Treasonmaster finally got into the air, there was no jet protection. Read an in depth account of where fly-boy was all day long. Veeerrry interesting.

Stupedist post you've ever seen? WOW. harsh.

I'd be pissed off if I lived in Boston, too.

My point was that New York is still recovering from 9/11, and in order to capitalize on their PAIN from the last time around for his own political gain, he's drawing more terrorist attention toward NYC.

I can't pretend to know what goes on in the minds of the terrorists. But you would think they'd be after the Republican party before they'd mess with the Democrats. I'm sure that sounds naive ... but consider that the GOP is:

***filled with Fundie Christians who don't believe the Palestinians should be given an inch by the Israelis because then the End Times won't happen properly

***told lies in order to invade Iraq for oil and contracts for Bush's fat-cat friends

And I still think NYC would be a more attractive target than Boston, since it's America's financial heart.

If the terrorists have finite resources with which to stage an attack -- which place do you think they're going to hit: Boston and the Democrats, or the Republicans and New York?

11. My personal opinion is that Fargo and Baton Rouge and Omaha---
and places like that will be the next targets.

Spread the fear and no one will feel safe.

My apologies for the "stupidest post" comment----bad morning and you took the brunt.

9. Boston wasn't the site of a major terrorist attack
that is the reason the RNC should not have had their convention in NYC this year. Any other major US city would have been appropriate.

13. I think the post is very sensible
I'm sorry you're nervous about being in Boston during the convention. Maybe you should consider leaving town for a few days.

me wondering why you would try to label it as such?

6. When I look at the security measures being taken in Boston
which is friendly to the democrats, how do you think the people of NYC are going to feel when the RNC imposes the same, if not more, security measures in a city that is not friendly to them? I am inclined to think this could backfire on the RNC. When all of these security measures are taken when they weren't wanted there in the first place could make the people of NYC pretty angry. Hopefully they will get a lot of negative publicity. We will have to wait and see.

so someone must like Republicans.

18. I live in Illinois where some elect republicans
but New York, like Illinois, is a solid Blue State and if the republicans wanted to hold their convention in Chicago and inconvenience the people of that city, it would probably backfire. Just because some republicans get voted in, doesn't mean the people would welcome a convention with all of the security measures. I still it is a high possibility that this could backfire because after all is said and done, the people of NYC don't want the RNC there.

10. I was going to post the exact same thing!
It's outrageous that they would be so insensitive to the ordeal New Yorkers have gone through the past three years. That they would MAKE us a TARGET again is unbelievable. I'm furious.

20. They "endangered" NYC in 2001 just by sitting on their
asses and doing nothing about the threat of terrorism..but did the 9/11 report mention that? I thought not.

I caught Bob McIllvane of 9/11 Families For A Peacefull Tomorrow on Canadian tv and he said of the 9/11 report that .."Americans deserve more!" He wasn't too happy..and I don't blame him!
