Michigan Democrats filing challenge to Nader's candidacy...
http://www.macombdaily.com/stories/072304/sta_nader001.shtml

snip-

LANSING -- The Michigan Democratic Party filed a challenge Thursday to block Ralph Nader from appearing on the state ballot as an independent candidate for president.

-snip

Brewer said only petitions circulated by the candidate's campaign can be counted under state election law. The Democrats also are disputing an estimated 26,000 signatures they argue should be invalidated for other reasons, including improperly filled out forms, alteration of documents and fraudulent signatures.

-snip

Nader spokesman Kevin Zeese said Nader is still focused on becoming the Reform Party's candidate on the Michigan ballot, which would make the dispute over his independent candidacy meaningless

-snip

The only problem is is that the Reform Party has a chairman in Michigan, and it's not Nader.

1. Hope the Reform Party is as smart as the Greens
who woke up to the fact that Nader is interested in notoriety more than principle. And I hope that Michigan finds that it is not right for a major political party to help an independent get on the ballot. Wonder what the GOP would say if Dems had done something like this?

2. it's a shame that having an opposing party doing
your registration isn't against the law. I read a letter on Bartcop from someone in Michigan that it was all GOP doing the work. ATTENTION NADERITES!! If this doesn't tell you that a vote for Nader is a vote for Bush, then I don't know what does...

3. And that was pretty much true. All other doors here in Michigan
appeared closed to Nader before the GOP came into town. I have two friends who voted for Nader in 2000 who refused to sign the petition.
