BOSTON

ucked away on the fifth floor of a nondescript brick building a block from Boston's FleetCenter is a beehive of Republican staffers, researchers and rabble-rousers with one mission in mind: raining on John Kerry's hometown parade.

A high-tech "war room," daily press conferences by GOP heavyweights, a new Web site, round-the-clock satellite feeds and a rapid-response "truth squad" are just some of the tools the Republicans hope to use to limit any "bounce" in Kerry's poll numbers coming out of Democratic National Convention.

Prominent Republicans including former New York Mayor Rudolph Giuliani, former Massachusetts Gov. William F. Weld and current Massachusetts Lt. Gov. Kerry Healey are among the Republican surrogates for President Bush. Their mission: Try to paint Kerry as a flip-flopping, out-of-touch liberal.

Realizing New York Mayor Rudolph Giuliani is on the list of spoilers....sure does let you see he is not who he presented on 911. And many NYers said that he was yuck.....and I didn't listen

Has threatened to take body parts from Rudy or McCain's family members or something. Seriously people, I know it's easy to dismiss them as just other repukes, but you know these two are not of the typical repuke kind, and when you really look at their positions and decisions they've made they're pretty far from the Ashcroft/Rove variety, yet they stump for them...I just can't understand this.

3. Tell them that you are outraged, and that before the convention starts, John Kerry MUST publicly denounce the zone as being as unsafe as it is unconstitutional.

It might strike you as odd that we should want Kerry to look out his own protestors. But think of the "fun" the mainstream media would have blaming Kerry's "endorsement" of nazi-like tactics if major violence or arrests were to break out. If he takes a public stand against the zones, he would be in a position to say, "Well, I warned you, didn’t I?" So don’t just sit there—tell your friends and get to work!
