We were highly entertained by the online chat just held over at GeorgeWBush.com; it's not every day you get people involved in politics to give you off-the-cuff, unscripted answers to serious questions about where the country is headed. So today really wasn't that different from other days. Oh sure, the chat with Jenna and Barbara Bush was hilarious, but only because we expected them to start responding with, "Affirmative, Dave, I read you." Their responses were an insult to Stepford Wives, but then again, the questions were an insult to our intelligence:

It's not just that 22-year-olds don't talk like that, it's that no one talks like that. Jenna and Barb weren't answering these questions, these questions were being answered by Ken Mehlman and Karl Rove, who may have been dressed like Jenna and Barb...

Almost always, the subject's answers are transcribed by someone typing for them -- obviously, whoever that was really did some creative work.

Unless, like Wonkette did, you read between the very obvious lines. As I just said above, unless they're audio or video chats, the answers are transcribed by a third party...who obviously did quite a bit of embellishment for the Twins, if the Twins were there at all.

Would be interesting if someone could pinpoint the Twins whereabouts at that time, however. Go to it, Cottonmouth! :D

I was honored to be in a live chat with Sam Waterston a while back. He had someone typing his answers, and I could tell. There were typos, not of spelling but of content-Sam would say something that his fans knew about, but the typist didn't-like names of films and plays he had done-which wouldn't be written correctly. Sam's a very intelligent, witty man, but in the course of a live chat, some of his thoughts were a bit foreshortened as he very politely tried to answer all our questions.

The response from the twins sounds canned, and not real. No way was this a chat.

I don't have the comments here, but I do remember bush* cleaning his glasses on the back of some poor woman's shirt, him telling a reporter to call him Mr. pResident in an arrogant tone of voice when asked a question that was phrased in a way he didn't like, and a number of other instances where he was just plain obnoxious and childish.

Who do these kids think they're fooling? Oh, I know, those who are gullible and stupid enough to go to their little blog. I know I have reservations of taking political advice from a couple of little girls who have been photographed drunk and lying on the streets of Austin.
