9-11 recommendations, bush* and congress
The commission made it pretty clear that we need to make some serious changes and do it quickly. They also issued a warning of their own - should a terror attack occur and there has been NO action on the recommendations - the American people will be quick to hold officials responsible.

Now, Ridge has been running around "warning" of a terrattack, and there are back door doings regarding postponing the election in the event of a terrattack.

Supposedly, Congress will be "reconvening" to "study" the 9-11 recommendations.

OK - so there is a lot of blather going on on both sides of the aisle. Dem's want to move on this, Re-pugs want to 'study' it.

When we toss the election into the political blender -- I see three scenarios to be played out:

1. bush* is in trouble (ala poll numbers) - so he is going to want to do 'something' to boost those numbers. Watch for him to call on Congress to act quickly on 9-11 recommendations, but he will not specifically push any one of those recommendations as a priority. He will "tell" congress to do their job!

This lets him off the hook from supporting or pooh-poohing any specific recommendation while giving the appearance of being "concerned"

2. Re-pugs are going to want to move slow on this - with bush*s numbers in the toilet the likelihood of bush* being sent back to Crawford is a very real probability. If bush* is re-selected, then the re-pugs will speed things up. If Kerry is elected - then re-pugs will slow things down even more, blame Kerry for the slow down and any subsequent terror attack or warning will fall in Kerry's lap.

3. Dems want to seize the issue, they have to come out yelling and pushing the 9-11 recommendations - even though they know the agenda and pace of that agenda is set by re-pug leaders. This will allow Dems to blame any stalling, foot-dragging and/or terra-warnings and/or attacks on re-pugs and bush*

We, the American People, can start pushing things by holding every Senator, every Representative and bush* accountable for every day that goes by which leaves us UNSAFE.

------------

My partner and I were discussing this last night, and she asked how the hell do you get congress to move quickly on this matter?

 I replied "well, you tell them that terrorists are recognizing gay marriages."
