Bush Holds Slight Lead in Electoral Votes

By RON FOURNIER, AP Political Writer

BOSTON - John Kerry (news - web sites) narrowly trails President Bush (news - web sites) in the battle for the 270 electoral votes needed to win the White House, as he makes his case at the Democratic National Convention this week to topple the Republican incumbent.

... With three months remaining in a volatile campaign, Kerry has 14 states and the District of Columbia in his column for 193 electoral votes. Bush has 25 states for 217 votes, according to an Associated Press analysis of state polls as well as interviews with strategists across the country...

________

Using people like Karl Rove to calculate totals...what a scientific analysis...

1. Sad about Fournier. He'd rather be a mediawhore instead of Pulitzer Prize
winning journalist.

I had great hopes for him at one point. Now....feh....just wondering what they have on him.

2. Sad thing is that AP stories get picked up as filler
in papers around the country.

Hundreds of THOUSANDS of people will read this story, condensed, tomorrow in their Sunday paper.

3. I think this kind of disinformation will help us.
If people realized how poor the prospects really are for a Bush victory, it might depress Democratic turnout, probably not enough to turn things around for Bush, but enough to shorten Kerry's coattails.

6. Fournier is AP's Rush Limbaugh, but he is sneakier.
Remember the McCain rumors? Fournier.

So, who at AP did the analysis, and what state polls did they use? Was it Fournier himself that interviewed the strategists?

Fournier seems to often use "unnamed sources" for the basis of much of the information he reports.

7. They Lost Me When They Said Bush Won Ohio Easily....
He won it by four fucking points after Gore pulled all his ad buys three weeks before the election to focus on Florida...
