5. I believe and practice my faith (Judaism) |
|
but I am also a Socialist and as such I believe Lenin's dictum that religion is a private matter as far as the State is concerned.
It is my faith that gives me the passion to defend human rights and work for social and economic justice. It is Socialism that gives me the roadmap to achieve that.

6. I'm an agnostic that tends towards atheism...hmm what to vote? |
|
Unsure if such a position exists, so I guess I'm just an atheist who doesn't want to label himself so. After some "soul-searching" in high school I was more of an atheist. After a philosophy major in college I realized the only truly philosophical position to take on the issue is to be an agnostic. Hmmm

7. I believe in my religion, but not part of politics. |
|
I think everyone should be free to believe in whatever they choose, but no one religion belongs in politics.
I remember when I was a young kid in school (I went to a Catholic School) the teachers would tell us you can't go to a public school because they say the wrong "Lords Prayer". That was a long time ago, and the public schools have since discontinued any prayers. I think it shows just one reason all religions should stay out of any Gov.t business.

Your three options are all oriented around a traditional higher-power type of god -- believe, disbelieve, or not sure. But it leaves anyone with an alternative concept of reality out in the cold.
I've mostly taken to describing myself as a pantheist agnostic lately. I don't believe in a higher power, but I do believe there is a power which works within all of us. That's the panetheism part. And I believe that, although the effects of this power can be seen, its ultimate nature is unknown and unknowable. That's the agnostic part.
Of course, in other moods, I might be just as likely to call myself a mystical atheist. When it comes to gods, there's no there there -- but the ultimate effect is the same as if there were. It takes a lot of effort to summon up faith in absolute Nothingness, though -- that's why, most days, I find it easier to be a pantheist agnostic.

17. You really did not give enough choices |
|
You should have mentioned major and minor religions and combos. I voted agnostic, but that is not a fit either. One can be in AA and believe in a Higher Power that is not God, for one example...

18. I'm an agnostic who leans toward a belief |

in a higher power but remains too skeptical to really believe. I hope there is a God because good people deserve something better than what they are getting on this Earth O8) and the bad deserve something much worse. :grr:
