It's time to get rid of Bush AND the Republican Congress.
It's not enough to just get rid of Bush. We need to get rid of his radical bunch of so-called conservatives in the Congress. They are not "real" conservatives. Just look at their record.

Yes, Bush has to go. But so does Tom Delay, Bill Frist, Bill Thomas, Rick Santorum, Orrin Hatch, and others from their leadership positions. If we can't defeat them personally, we should at least try to put them in positions in the minority where they can do the least harm to our nation.

We need to think of the bigger picture. George W Bush does not need to be our sole focus anymore. We need to defeat the radical Repubs in the Congress. They have all failed miserably.

2. Hell, YES! Usually I favor divided government
but in this case, with all the systemic damage the Busheviks have caused and the Baby Boomers hurtling at us like a freight train...

Kerry needs a free hand to get measures in place, QUICKLY. The damned debt is approaching $7,500,000,000,000!

I would STILL be wary of extremism if the Dems suddenly got all the levers of power, but everything is so damned lopsided right now, I would rather have them exercise some serious control.

At the very least we must take back one house of Congress.

MUST!

3. the checks & balances that our founding fathers insured
have been completely evicerated since 12/12/00. There was an earlier thread about how we have revoked the magna carta.

Sorry, I'm not good at cross referencing threads. But our heinous treatment of woman, children, & human beings in Iraq is a total attrocity which is likely to haunt us for generations.

I just happened to turn on the tube. There was a replay of the first Indiana Jones movie where the heroine is in the basket with a monkey and getting abducted. She was saying, "wait I'm an American." I was struck by how little that would mean poste *.

15. Not very smart
even if someone were to agree with the sentiment, all you'd do is create public sympathy and there will always be someone else equally disagreeable to take their place.

That's one reason why we on the left overwhelmingly believe in non-violent action.

5. I agree
republicans (I absolutely refuse to capitalize out of sheer disrespect) used to just annoy me; now they are actively trashing my life, my future, my country. They have got to go.

8. "they've all GOT to GO!"
i think "bush has GOT to GO!"
and "they've all GOT to GO!"
need to be ubiquitous memes in the months up to the election.
this year's "throw the bums out", if you will.
or maybe we could just reuse "throw the bums out."

but yes, it's not enough to throw bush out. we need to direct the anger at the whooooole lot of 'em.

not only should we shoot for the senate, and make progress on the house, but we also need to firmly establish this as a victory for the DEMOCRATIC PARTY, not just a limited, personal, defeat for shrub.

the difference being that the victory for the democratic party (slash, defeat for the republican party) will carry over into the new administration. remember that this election is just one battle in a looooong struggle against the reich-wing.

11. Absolutley!
and we need to make sure that more independently minded people are voted into office. I'm talking about folks who can't be bought out by special interests.

14. Dean knew this- although unfortunately he jumped the gun
The Kerry camp has yet to prove that they get it, too.

Time is running short- if the Dems don't nationalize the campaign soon, if they don't start setting the agenda so that it resonates in state and local elections, there will be no way to reverse most of the damage that's been done.
