Fences at a protest just challenge the protestors to tear them down.

.
Are the police so stupid as to think that the fences at the "free speech area" aren't a great big symbol to the protestors? A symbol that says "fuck you protestors!"

Please. How many seconds will it take for the fences to be breached? They are affront to everything this country stands for.

I think the fences will agitate more than any one thing that the police could possibly do. Hell, they already are.

This could get ugly. I blame the idiots who came up with the "free speech zones" and the fences for whatever happens. Dumbasses.

2. They shouldn't have these cages at either convention.
Whether the Dems or Repubs.

Disgusting.

I agree there should be security and I agree that the protestors shouldn't be allowed to get close enough to harm the people at the convention, but these cages are sickening.

3. The fences are topped

with razor wire and surrounded by concrete barricades. Suspect they wouldn't be easy to take down. The Dems should take the high road and order them taken down as unAmerican -- before the media whores start to use the "pen" as their favorite convention backdrop.

6. Damn right the Dems should demand they be taken down
With the Democratic convention going first I have a feeling "they" will try to provoke problems so they (same "they") will be able to even further supress dissent at the Republican convention.

Are these cages supposed to hold just the Anti Democrat protesters? or anyone who wants to carry a sign? Are they not just caging American citizens, but caging the polar opposites together? As nasty as politics has gotten, that alone would be like tossing a match in a vat of gasoline.

4. Welcome to America under Bush*!
Fascism is in the ascendancy. Sad to say, I'll be a big majority of Americans support "free speech zones".

Too bad we couldn't get a million people in NYC to march to the Garden from all directions and be willing to get arrested by the cops if need be. How would they handle the righteous anger of the people being denied one of the most basic of Constitutional rights?

Make the march on the night Bush* gives his speech. Even the whore press couldn't ignore that.

7. But, but, we don't want to upset the moderates!!
They might start thinking that there are some Democrats who are against War, Racism, Imperialism, and all that stuff that Good Americans are for.
