Media Upset With DNC Restroom Facilities
BOSTON - Media members, already perturbed by long security lines, may find themselves waiting in line for something nearly as important. As the majority of the print reporters arrived Saturday at the FleetCenter for the Democratic National Convention, tongues clucked when they saw the restroom facilities that they will be using for the next week.

Twenty portable restrooms, like those used on construction sites, are lined up in front of the media pavilion to service nearly 1,200 members of the print media who will be working around the clock. That's about 60 serious coffee-drinkers per toilet.

"That's absurd," said Jim Drinkard, a political reporter for USA Today, when he heard of the ratio of toilets per media member. "This is not the type of planning you'd expect out of someone trying to be a good host."

http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story2&u=/ap/20040724/ap_on_el_pr/cvn_media_toilets

That's Drinkard (his real name) of the More Bathrooms For Reporters lobby.

2. It is going to be a problem for the delegates and everyone else also.
There was a story on how few port-a-potties there will be outside the arena because of security concerns on CNN or MSNBC (last week).

5. Easy to fix, folks
You know RimJob's dipshits are gonna freep the convention.

You know there's only 20 portosans because the fuckin' freepers have rented every single portosan in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts so they'll have enough johns for their freep.

And you also know there are gonna be about forty freepers protesting the convention.

Which means each freeper will be able to take five shits a day for the duration of the convention and (1) never use the same can twice and (2) never use a can that's been visited by another freeper.

Therefore! If the conservative media were to sublet some of these toilets from the freepers, this problem would be solved in about five minutes.

they've crapped on Democrats for 12 straight years; it's about time they are on the receiving (or, perhaps withholding) end.

13. Why don't these media whores go report in Central America?
Find out how fucking hard it is to do the job of a REAL journalist, where you can't demand air conditioned quarters, guaranteed bathrooms, and food.. oh Hell! Perhaps they should try being a real journalist, you know.. the type that actually RISKS something to get the REAL story??? These people who pass for "journalist" these days are just spoiled, rich, republicans talking heads.

Oooh.. the GOP is going to treat them like ROYALTY.. guess we know what REALLY happens when the 200k+ a year journalists turn against the Democrats. They go with anyone that supplies free drinks and lots of potties.

Fucking pathetic babies.

But then, they are not journalists, they are coifed, surgically enhanced talking heads. Untrained and unprofessional.

17. I doubt we could make them happy considering...
http://www.nytimes.com/2004/07/20/nyregion/20concierge.html

Work spaces have been assigned and wireless Internet access has been arranged. Phone lines, electric outlets, parking spots for satellite trucks: all are details being worked out for the massive media center that will be created in Midtown Manhattan for the Republican National Convention at the end of August.

Oh, and there will be concierge and spa services, too.

If the delegates thought this convention was about their work (and their party's), they were only half right. There will be roughly 15,000 news media representatives in New York, more than three times the number of delegates, and if the Republican hosts are looking to wine and dine their party colleagues, the city's host committee is also eager to pamper the visiting press corps. For reporters not sufficiently groomed, for example, Barneys New York will be on hand to offer free shoeshines and shaves for men and, perhaps, makeovers for women.

I'll be happy to donate. Can't have the press running around in distress--it will give them a huge axe to grind.

21. Could it be possible that this is a manufactured problem?
According to its web site, the Fleet Center has 34 restrooms- they don't say how many stalls. Maybe some of those will be available.

Do we know just where the 'media pavillion' is at?

23. Okay, all kidding aside...
Last I checked, the Fleet Center is a commercial building accessible to the public. It has a roof and walls, and even a hard-surface floor.

Last I checked, the Democratic National Convention is going to be held INSIDE the Fleet Center. Not outside, where the 20 portapotties that belong to a company that refuses to rent to freepers are located.

Last I checked, the building code of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts requires that all commercial buildings accessible to the public have restroom facilities accessible to the public.

Restroom facilities that DO NOT HAVE LOCKS ON THE DOORS!

And because we are not freepers, and also because Massachusetts has very strict gun laws, there will be no armed guards keeping the members of the conservative press out of the restrooms.

Does anyone really believe they're going to make all of these reporters run all the way from the floor of the Fleet Center, past all of these RESTROOMS THAT ARE REQUIRED TO BE ACCESSIBLE TO THE PUBLIC BY THE LAWS OF THE COMMONWEALTH OF MASSACHUSETTS, and out to the media pavilion every time they want to take a leak? Absurd! Preposterous! There are so many restrooms in the Fleet Center, the freepers don't even need to rent portosans, but they will because it's in their bylaws. (We're letting Sean Hannity and OxyRush pee in the indoor plumbing; why wouldn't we let the freepers?)

That's what they're trying to sell us, and it's bullshit. We know it's bullshit. They know we know it's bullshit. Why in FUCK are we falling for this?
