2. I am in the travel industry and I speak with tons of people.. |
|
Lemme tell you, while there are "Bush Cling ons", willing to go down with the ship with him, many are jumping and swimming to the lifeboats of Sanity and Reason.
Many may not HATE Bush but are depressed they wasted their vote on him, disappointed and appalled are some other terms heard. Bush has managed to piss off a whole lot of people to the point of losing this one big time.

6. Bush has succeeded in making the Pub Lie indefensible.. |
|
The Pubs fall into 2 classes, those that think, and the others. The ones who can think..smell the coffee...are bailing cause they got no choice. Two of my golf buddies were for Bush.....After months of teasing from me... they couldn't defend Bush....they had to capitulate and now will vote Kerry.
Bush has done it for us. He has turned off a small segment of his base and turned ON all of US.
I luv it.

7. Have friends around the Nation and in other lands.. we email. This Nov I go |
|
to Nam and Japan on business /pleasure. Many times the discussion turns to Geopolitics as it obviously affects trade. Inevitably, Bush comes up and we discuss him as we would any other President. The jist of it, Bush is Toast among other Nations.
Look it, they are spitting on Lance Armstrong(and the American Team) at the TOUR. Those Frenchies don't like us from those arrogant Freedom Toast/Fries Daze. The Conservatives/Fundies should have known it was Bad but their immaturity got the better of them.
In Zurich, the Swiss thinks America is Nuts for having Bush as Prez. The Swedes Mooned him for Gods Sake.
Bush has given America a BLACK EYE.. The Prison Torture thing is exasperated things no end...and did not go away despite mention of ir in the media waning...

10. great. thank you. and you are exactly right - he has given this entire |
|
nation the blackest eye
about the only way it could get worse is if he is voted in (dont think that will happen but that is among the only ways it could get any worse)
thank you again.

12. Bush taps in to the sense of general entitlement ... |
|
The Republican message tells everybody how "special" they are and how much better they are than other people. Bush exemplifies this. People want to maintain a system of privelege for when THEY finally make it as promised.
But somehow, even people with this sense of personal superiority are figuring out that Bush is a colossal fuck up. Voting Democrat however is horrible choice because than they would cast themselves into the worldview that we need social systems that support those who aren't so "special" as they are.
For them, I hope they vote for Nader, LaRouche or whoever the Libertarians are running.

Yeah, we're out there. I just met another anti-Bush knitter the other night at Knit Night. And she has a son who just got back from Iraq.
You'd be suprised how knitters don't fit any stereotype at all. The best Knit Night group I was a part of was in Cleveland during the last so-called election, and you should have heard the colorful language some of those "little old ladies" used about Bush. :)

I forgot to warn you guys about that issue of Knitty. It's the "Sex and the Knitty" issue with some, well, interesting patterns, to say the least. It might blow away your conceptions of what knitters are like. :)

22. Yeah, it got some negative comments, I guess |
|
Amy who runs the site got more than a few negative comments, mostly about the article on love and knitting (written by a lesbian about herself and women she knows)--well, the edible thong got a couple too. ;)
Have you checked out the Knitters Against Bush site? They started a forum, but I didn't stay, as DU's better.

20. Lemme tell you how much they are everywhere! |
|
When we were driving through middle of nowhere Utah recently, and I mean middle of NOWHERE, we saw a chemical toilet by the side of the road and it was a good thing--all four of us were about to bust. The next town was 100 miles away and there was literally nothing out there...the landscape even looked like, minus the road, we could be on the MOON. (Just big piles of gray rock and dirt everywhere...we had left Moab and were on our way to Zion National Park.)
So we go into this chemical toilet one by one and each one of us comes out laughing. When I go in, I see why. Middle of nowhere, icky stinky chemical toilet. BIG HUGE fat black letters on the wall behind the toilet: "BUSH SUCKS! VOTE KERRY!"
Oh. My. God. Someone actually took the time to do that. How many people could possibly have seen that message? Ten people? Seriously, the ENTIRE time we were on that stretch of highway, we didn't see another car in either direction (two-lane road). It was the middle of the day. For a while, I just drove right on the lane dividers since we were so alone.
So yeah, I firmly believe bush haterz are EVERYWHERE. If they are in the middle of the Utah desert, with not another town or sign of civilization in sight (there weren't even phone lines for a while and forget about a cell signal) they are truly everywhere.

You haven't had a single poll get the kind of recognition this dude's "Kerry trailing in the electoral college" thing has received the last couple days.. plastered all over every sunday paper I've seen.
Sounds like some folks are anxious to re-coronate El Shrubbo and be done with it.
