more details of the Wolfowitz espionage: he leaked to Chalabi
Edited on Sat Jul-24-04 10:17 PM by Must_B_Free
It looks like it was Wolfowitz who was throwing the "curveballs". The charges seem to relate to Chalabi back in may.

Two leading Pentagon neo-cons have been identified by Congressional sources as prime suspects in the leaking of classified Defense Department material to Ahmed Chalabi, who is now accused of passing it on to rightwing factions in the Iranian government.

The two suspects were identified as Michael Rubin and Harold Rhode.

Rubin was in the Office of Special Plans for much of 2002-2003, and spent six months in Baghdad with the Coalition Provisional Authority, before leaving the government and returning to the American Enterprise Institute early this year.

Harold Rhode was the Doug Feith aide and top "Islamist" advisor to Paul Wolfowitz, who spent time in Baghdad as the Office of Special Plans (OSP) liaison to Chalabi.

Rhode, a longtime ally of Michael Ledeen and Bernard Lewis, also was the top Pentagon official meeting with Iran-Contra figure Manucher Ghorbanifar from 2001 2003.

The Congressional source reported that if the allegations, chiefly coming from the CIA, about the magnitude of the classified leaks to Chalabi pan out, this is going to be a massive espionage scandal.

2. ahh here is the reason
for Sandy Berger gettting the Bush/Rove/Cheney treatment.

'See, they are crooked too!' they are saying...

But Perle and Wolfy might end possibly up in front of a firing squad, No?

3. Holy smokes
How successful will the BFEE be at snuffing THIS story?? They've been pretty good at nullifying the Plame scandal and a host of other atrocious behavior that would get any other administration run out on a rail...

I'll be keeping a peeled eyeball on this one for sure!

5. Be nice if it was Time Magazine or USA Today
...rather than rumormill.com. Or better yet, CNN or CBS. Not that the mainstream outlets are more reliable, but until it breaks there it isn't "reality" yet.
