They didn't believe that Iraq was an imminent threat. All of them have troops in Afghanistan where the real terrorist are. These three countries could have lined up for goodies from Bush but chose not to. I know my fellow DUers know this.

1. I especially like Canada since they almost never oppose the US on

foreign policy decisions. I am really proud of them. I like France because they were right all along and had the GUTS to stand up to the bully and not flinch when it's fist was ready to pound them into submission. Germany and others have stood on the same principals as the rest and they are not the only ones either.

He says because they disagree with us we should not tour their countries. Their economys will fail in Bill's boycott he says because American tourism countrs for some number of their economy.

He's a friggin' joke at this point - I'm not even taking him seriously any more. I will poke fun of him here and respond to post's about him, but I really don't see how anyone can take him seriously any more. I can actually believe that there are some reasonable Repubs that realize he is a liability (another thread here).

These are dark days in our short history. Speaking of history, one of the problems we are facing is a lack of education, which has been dumbed down seriously in the last thirty years. Maybe things would be different if the populace understood the French Revolution, etc. Ignorance certainly is not bliss.

Memory must be renewed with every generation, or the memory is lost.

The 'history' most Americans have learned is a sanitized state version of history. Think of it as learning dates without understanding underlying reasons for events. An exersize in recalling unrelating events by date without knowing what they mean. It is like learning geometry by memorizing the various theorums without ever having to think through each theorum's proof. Root recal with little meaning, thus an inability to think.

History as I attended school was very booring. Later, outside of school, I picked-up books about history and it became for me, interesting. Reasons for why things are as they are today, started to make sense.

It's like being lost in a forest. A endless series of doing the next step. Go to work, work, go home, watch TV, sleep and then doing the same, day after day. Occasional breaks of routine for holidays or vacations with more of the same.

If you have seen the movie Joe and the Volcano then you get a feel for how life is for many Americans.
