8. Write to them.
Get in their faces. As Eric Alterman calls it in "What Liberal Media?," work the referees. Don't let them off the hook. Let them know their audience is onto their slimy tricks.

5. CBS has made me cringe a few times...
... dunno about NBC... but it seems to me that ALL of it needs to be watched with a critical eye.

A daily dose of The Daily Show doesn't hurt, either.

7. Turn It Off And They Win
I expected CNN to run a hatchet job on Kerry...considering the promos I saw that you could just tell were gonna play up the "un-social" side (whatever that is). Newsbreak to CNN: Presidents aren't supposed to be our best buds...they're supposed to run the largest corporation in the world and do so benevolently. This isn't about who rides a horse best or who you want to have a beer with (since I hate beer where's that leave me??).

The bias especially on CNN has really gotten bad and I suggest not turning it off, but turning up the noise. Yes, let 'em have the letters...but if you're gonna write, also do a LTTE to your local paper...even if it's the ad paper...mention CNN lots of times (those three letters will stick out on a page) and feel free to mention names...even though that list has gotten long as well (Myles Mindbender, Leslie Blitzen and Paula Zahn get my greatest ire as they attempt to say they're credible "journalists" when all they spout are talking points. Or the "newsbabes" who are piped directly into the White House...no fact checking, just go with what they tell you and keep your job.

Again, turning it off means when CNN does its market polling they'll see their audience is primarily wingnuts and will cater even more to them. These goons think Faux is what people want to see as far as a newschannel (or their advertisers think so)...let them, the advertisers and especially all you know different. Again, not boycott...flood these assholes with letters and turn the media light on them. The best to expect is they at least try to be balanced. Faux is being exposed for the fraud it is and CNN's next on the list.

As far at networks...CBS is far superior to all the others. Yes, the network "leans left"...and for good reason, this regime has gone after this company (Janet Jackson, Raygun movie, Howard Stern) mostly since they openly support CBS's major competitor, Clear Channel, and are attempting to punish Sumner Redstone and other honchos at Viacom/CBS/Infinity who are big Democratic donors.

Part of the great media lie is the "liberal media"...It's a strawman constantly used on Faux to shame the rest of the networks in leaning right lest be called "liberal" if they stray from the party line. CNN has bought into this concept as well and is a greater threat as they attempt (with some remaining legitmacy) to claim their a credible news source.

It's sad to write this since I've had CNN since almost it's first day and have lived with this network 24/7 since then. This network was innovative in connecting us globally and now is abusing that power. It's time to call things as they are and call those who are using the media against the American people to be called out as well.

13. You are right IMRadioactive
I am not sure what those here are thinking when they advocate ignoring a media powerful enough to influence support for the criminal in office. Furthermore, we actually pay for this crap through our cable bills.

I keep hearing people say that CBS is okay (or some other network). NONE are okay. Basically, you get a Nightline report that is somewhat truthful for one hour from ABC while ABC airs four hours of Rush and Hannity daily--every day via their radio networks. Or, you get a CBS 60 Minutes episode once a month or bimonthly while the CBS daily news toes the RW party line 24/7.

The imbalance is there even when the truth is told. I'm not sure if they care about feedback about their bias but watching at least lets you know what is going on. These messages are too serious to tune everybody out.

14. It's Also The Counter-Spin Game We Have To Play
If you don't know what CNN or Faux is saying, it's hard to "discuss" issues with those who do watch and do believe and assume what they see and hear to be "unbiased" or they grown "comfortable with". Challenge people about the sources of the "facts" they spew and CNN or Faux will pop out quickly...thus you need this info to be one up and know what to expect. The spins are getting so goofy...ala Sandy Berger...that unless you watch these spinners closely the story goes from lie to "assumed fact" real fast.

Of course I advocate getting news and information from lots of sources. We have the tools with the Internet to reach far and wide to get all types of news and view...and you can see how others use it here. It's hold your loved ones close...hold your enemies closer...and know them as they won't take the time to know you...especially the wingnuts.

Cheers!

:wtf:

CBS is NOT perfect, but it's better than the others out there, especially Cable.

I like Rather and Brokow, I do NOT always agree with them but they are much more trustworthy than the others. Yes, I get alot of my news from foreign sources which are by FAR the best out there.

10. here's what I notice
Kerry can speak without reading from a script.

Bush can hardly even read the script.

Why do you think Bush has so few press conferences? He can't think on his feet.

The Repuke handlers are using the same techniques as they did with Reagan, only Reagan was an accomplished actor, so it worked to their advantage.

This F**king nit-wit is brain damaged from past drug and alcohol abuse, and can't even read the script. He appears as though he is a grade school student reading a story that he can't understand, and using words he can't pronounce.

This election will be decided on "The Intelligence Gap" and Kerry will win in a landslide.

23. I thought the story was very even handed.
I can't imagine ANY news source making some folks here happy. If a news source existed that fit the ideals of some of the media haters here, they'd be the Faux News of the left, and we would look as stupid as Fox viewers do. Day after day, post after post, stories are bashed when they have any criticism for our guy. I just can't stand it any more - what is going on here? Another thread about this exact story today was mostly positive and this one was mostly negative - all based on the tone of the initial poster. I guess we all are entitled to our opinions and the networks can be bad at times, I just switch the damn channel - you can too. There is almost always something palatable available to those who are patient.

They deliberately left out the part where he said he HEARD soldiers say at the Winter Soldier meeting that they.......instead, it was edited as if Kerry was doing the accusing and that it was he who saw and did those atrocities. Kerry used the collective we at times and the tape was edited to mislead the viewer.
