I'm gonna be glued to C-SPAN and Air America all week! I hope Kerry will start rallying more enthusiasm in potential voters!

2. oh, yes
I'm a total convention junkie, and I'm ready to plant myself in front of the television this week.

Did you see some of the highlights of previous DNC's on C-SPAN yesterday? They showed HHH's 1968 acceptance speech, and man, was he a good speaker. Also showed Ferraro's 1984 acceptance speech. Great stuff. I want this sucker to start today!

like hopefully the michael moore/howard dean event in cambridge and definetly the DU happy hour, all on tuesday. I am not involved with the DEMS tho I am encouraging everyone I know how imperative it is they vote for Kerry despite whatever their gripes with him may be. I spend lotsa time arguing with my fringe leftie pals who won't let up on me for "selling out" by planning to vote for Kerry. I won't give up trying to convince them. ANyways on the other days besides tuesday in Boston I will probably join my fringe friends who plan to be protesting just to observe out of curiosity, take some pics maybe, visit the free speech zone see what all the bitching is about etc. I also want to check out the Black Tea Society Convergence Center. I saw them on CSPAN... It's gonna be a total political circus with celebs and totally fucked traffic and parking and I will think I died and went to heaven anyways...OH and I hope the freeps are out too..

5. I'm pretty far to the left. I was a Kucinich primary voter.
However, this is a swim or sink time in America for anyone on the left. To quote Howard Zinn "Kerry can give Progressives a small ledge to stand on, where Bush gives nothing." If Kerry is elected, he will probably have a chance to appoint a new Supreme Court Justice or two. We need that!

6. Can someone recommend broadcast coverage?
I don't have cable or satellite TV, only broadcast, so Faux is out, Jennings and Brokaw make me want to :puke:
Is Rather and CBS my only choice for coverage? In addition to the internet and NPR and Pacifica radio, of course. Any suggestions?
Thanks!

12. Somewhat, but mostly blah.
I'm more excited about some of the speakers than I am about Kerry himself. I'm more interested in what he has to say and leery about how well it goes. I'm almost holding my breath.

I went from swimming with the stars to drowning in the depths of the ocean with Howard Dean. I know how fast you can fall... I know how the media treated him. So I am always leery about things like this.

My main concern is with the so-called "Free Speech Zones" and the protesters. Can you imagine what message that would send when Kerry begins to deliver a message about "Freedom" and the "American Dream", and then they cut to the cage? Especially if some type of riot starts? Then imagine one of those so-called "Truth Squads" getting on TV and start spinning it.

I know the media dirty tricks book. The memories of the Howard Holler are still fresh in my mind. I remember how they conveniently "edited out" all the background noise to make it sound like Howard was screaming -- when in reality his voice was drowned out by the crowd.

*shrugs* We'll see what happens. I hope Kerry gets a lead so far above Bush that he never recovers, but it isn't in the Media's best interest and at the end of the day that's what the Media is most concerned about: their interest not ours.

14. Here is my guess
I bet the media will show the normal, average looking person that's protesting the DNC. For the RNC, the media will focus on the "wavy gravy" looking folks protesting the RNC.
