Just got my press creds for the DNC, and they gave out this canvas bag full of goodies - maps of the city, notebooks, a box of Kraft Mac and Cheese with the DNC symbol on it...

...and folded up in a corner was a computer printout of the exchange between Scheiffer and Rumsfeld where they clobbered him on the 'immediate threat' comments.

I don't know if I just got a special bag, or if some little devil put them in all the bags. I think maybe they're in all the bags. Every member of the press corps gets a bag. The guy ahead of me in line was from the National Review.

12. It's a promotional item - they're given out at every convention

At the 2000 convention in Los Angeles, the Mattel Corporation gave each delegate a Barbie dressed in red, white and blue waving Old Glory. They also got sterling silver picture frames in the shape of a donkey, plus a few other goodies that I can't remember right now.

Those Barbies are worth a fortune now because they were a limited edition series for a special event.

For anybody who's into collecting dolls or political memorabilia, this is a "must have". If it's in its original packaging, it's worth some real dough - like, over $1,000.00. The owner would get less if it's not but, even still, a little less than a grand ain't bad.

Free swag is one of the "bennies" of attending the convention. ;)
