HELP! I need your worst examples of Freeper hate.

I was perhaps not surprised, but definitely outraged, to find an article in my church bulletin this morning from a “right-to-life” group that included the following excerpts:

“It was Sunday, April 25th, the day abortion supporters had chosen to make their march on the Mall. Scattered here and there were pro-life protestors who desired, albeit quietly, to make their presence known…” I doubt it was quietly, but this wasn’t the worst of it. Read on:

“One pro-life protester named Kristinn reported (on the FreeRepublic.com weblog) watching a priest quietly blessing the pro-abortion marchers. She said the response to the priest ‘was nothing short of satanic…’” It went on to detail the verbal abuse this priest supposedly suffered, according to Kristinn.

Setting aside the fact that FreakRepublic isn’t a blog, and Kristinn isn’t a “she” – these are minor points – I was appalled at the fact that my church would endorse a hate site like FR.

The article in question claimed that this particular incident shows the “true colors” of the pro-choice crowd. So I’d like you to help me show the clergy of my church the “true colors” of FR, and particularly of Kristinn. Please either post or PM me examples – with links – to the most hateful, criminal things these monsters have published online.

Some folks would routinely drive by and threaten to runover people on the sidewalk - because they didn't support bush who was defending our "freedoms". (They never caught the irony that threatening to kill and maim people for voicing their opinions - was actually in direct juxtaposition to protecting or even valuing freedoms - nor that there threats were more threatening to domestic freedoms (eg those of Americans) than was Saddam - nor that what they advocated (they would also yell out that the vigil participants should be rounded up and put in jail - and/or rounded up and shot) was not that different than the behavior that they decried from Saddam.

20 years ago I lived on Davis Island in Tamoa. A family from Lebanon moved in accross the street. We had a 4th of july party and invited the neighborhood as we always did and they came. I was friendly with the 70 year old Patriarch and asked him what the hell he was doing moving his family here at such an old age in his life. 9. I hadn't been to Free Republic in a while, so I went last night.

If you click on any of the articles they have linked about the middle east, 9/11 commission, etc., you will see a lot of responses from freepers saying that the U.S. should drop a nuclear bomb on every country in the middle east, because the "Islamic world" has declared war on us.

It should be very eye-opening for your pastor, I would think.

But let me get this straight, an anonymous person posted something on the internet and the idiots at your church bulletin published it as the "truth"? I don't think you should even have to get examples of FR hate, all you need to do is point out that this is not a credible source.

These posts rarely get moderated or deleted. It appears to be an acceptable part of the freeper culture.

29. This is my personal experience with Freeper hate.:

I attended a protest against the war in April 2003. It was sponsored by a church on the north end of Tacoma. I wore my Gulf War medals prominently displayed on my coat, and carried a sign reading "Thou Shall Not Kill", and "Blessed Are The Peacemakers".

I can't count how many middle fingers shot my way, along with shouts of "Nuke Eye-Wrack!". The ugliness and hatred of our detractors was palpable and frightening. I wondered several times if some nutjob rightwing gun freak would pop a shot our way. However, when a few of these "patriots" would slow down to yell something at us, I would simply smile at the armchair warriors and point to my medals. One guy pulled over to chew us out, and I simply suggested that he drive to his nearest Armed Forces recruiting office and sign up. He hemmed and hawed and then tore out of there. I don't think he took my advice, though.
