George W Bush was born to be a bully, an asshole, and a divider....
That is an unfortunate truth. He has divided this nation because he knows no other way. Why do people hate him, they ask? Well, he is the type of person that invites hate and anger. He is like the school bully in the fifth grade that would threaten other kids and call them names. He enjoyed putting firecrackers in little frogs. He is an arrogant asshole. There is not much to like about him, honestly. If he were not a "divider', he would have very little support in this country.

1. A bully. First he killed frogs, then he
shot his younger brothers with a b.b. gun, then in college he branded fraternity pledges, then in the office of Presidency, he encouraged torture by saying that anyone suspected of being a terrorist has no rights.

2. I really don't understand how people can miss his body language so much...
I mean just looking at the way he carries himself and how he interacts with others, regardless of the content, his body language just screams "asshole". I don't get how he can be sold as a likeable guy, are people really that blind?

29. Jones, you hit the nail on the head.
Even as a child I was appalled at how people acted in daily life, and these days, shit, I can hardly walk among them anymore. "Assholes and bullies" indeed. They like Bush because he is, truly, "one of them."

4. To me he's the rich kid
that had everything given to him, yet still thinks he's a self-made man. He was a bully because he came from a family with power and he knew people didn't want to cross them. He has an incredible sense of entitlement to power. He's a sociopath.

12. I hated him from the start for this reason
reminded me of the wealthy frat boys in college, who had plenty of money, never had to take part time jobs, never had to take school seriously, because they knew daddy's connections would get them a really good job. And these types were very free with in-your-face insults if you weren't from their social class.

6. People won't see Bush is an asshole until someone ...
... puts the bully in his place. The bully and divider aspects of Bush cover up the assholishness for most people.

If Kerry manages to turn the tables on Bush and show Bush for the weakminded fool Bush really is, then Bush will be destroyed. A lot rests on Kerry. He has to (rhetorically) grab Bush by the lapel and say, "Just a second, little man. I think you've gotten a little too big for your britches."

7. F911 made it clear as a bell
All my Conservative colleagues go on about what they call lies in f911. However, when baba makes his speech in f911 about his access to power (i.e., his father as president) it is as clear as a bell to what kind of man he really is.

30. I have wondered this myself. Do they think the "liberal media"
has somehow morphed Bush's mouth in the movie and put words in his mouth. The ability of these people to deny reality is nothing short of amazing.

13. "Bush on the Couch: Inside the Mind of the President" by Justin A. Frank
Edited on Sun Jul-25-04 04:01 PM by TahitiNut

Review excerpt ...
Bush Administration policies are not only a "great catastrophe" but the products of a disturbed mind, according to this provocative blend of psychological case-study and partisan polemic. Psychoanalyst Frank sifts through family memoirs, the writings of critics like Al Franken and David Corn and the public record of Bush’s personal idiosyncrasies for clues to the President’s character, interpreting the evidence in the rigidly Freudian framework of child psychoanalyst Melanie Klein. He finds that Bush, psychically scarred by an absentee father and a cold, authoritarian mother, has developed a galloping case of megalomania, characterized by a Manichaean worldview, delusions of persecution and omnipotence and an "anal/sadistic" indifference to others’ pain, with removal from office the only "treatment option." The author’s exegesis of Bush’s personality traits-the drinking problem, the bellicose rhetoric, the verbal flailings and misstatements of fact, the religiosity and exercise routines, the hints of dyslexia and hyperactivity, the youthful cruelty to animals and schoolmates, the smirk-paints an intriguing, if exaggerated and contemptuous, portrait of a possibly troubled public figure. But Frank’s attempts to translate psychoanalysis into political analysis are unconvincing. Indeed, if Bush’s reneging on campaign promises is a form of clinical "sadism," and his budget deficits an "unconscious attack on his own parents," then Karl Rove, the Cabinet, and both houses of Congress belong in group therapy with him.

14. I'm sitting here looking at my bookshelf at a book
that I read a few years ago - by John Douglas - "Anatomy of Motive". Basically, it is a psyco profile of violent criminals. It's ironic because last nite I was watching a "Law and Order" and they gave the same basic profiling - starting in childhood - bed-wetting - killing animals - and setting fires (which BTW is actually a sexual motivated act).

* has no empathy - no compassion - he is an emotionless sociopath and the rw supporters better realize this very quickly,

I did a google search and only came up with a lot of blogs.

I'm not doubting it is true, just if I had an official source it would make my day.

16. He wsa born to be those things but he is an empty shell
He is like an old puffer fish, all puffed up with hubris. He is a little man, morally and mentally. He seems to thinks he is in control, but he has puppet masters that control his every move. He flubs the material his handlers give him to say, and God look out if he tries to wing it. He might think like a bully and act like an arrogant asshole, but he is all bark and little bite without the cabal.

18. But he is also manipulative and secretive....
..that is why he was crafty enough to call the fight against the terrorists, a "war on terror". Because so long as there is a "war" , he is the Commander in Chief and nobody dare to question his motives - you are either with him or against him. If he didn't have this "war", he would find another just so he could use his power to kill and to punish. That is who we have as president.

27. I've a hard time beleiving Shrub is manipulative or secretive on his own
Sure that is what it looks like, but I think the handlers come out with a lot of this persona. Don't get me wrong...I think Shrub's heart is more withered away than the Grinch's. But somehow, I don't think he is personally capable of being much more than a talking head for his handlers.

By the way, welcome! But he is clever enough to know the advantage of wearing his religion on his sleeve, whether it is real or not. He uses it to his advantage as no other president in history. It's dangerous.

As much hatred as the right and left have for each other and its still months to go before the election, I'm expecting to start hearing about violence taking place at rallies between pro-Kerry and Pro Bush supporters. What has Bush done to this country?

23. Welcome to DU!
I try not to make judgements about the state of one's soul--that's between the individual and God--but I do know that the Bible says, "By their works you shall know them" (born-again Christians). It's not that unheard-of for Christians to stumble and act anything BUT Christian, but I have to wonder why the right-wing Christians are so willing to take Bush at his word and not give a whit about his actions. As long as he says he prays to Jesus every morning and is anti-abortion, anti-gay marriage, for prayer in schools and says God speaks directly to him--these RW-Christians are totally oblivious to his lies, lies and more lies. And they persist in tagging Iraq a "righteous war". You are correct that without his religious right base he has nothing. I'm praying more and more of them will see the light and see Bush for what he really is.

Bush Must Go!!
