I watched the Obama interview on MTP this morning. I am boycotting CNN, and did not watch him with Blitzer. I was disappointed, as many DUers were, with his answers regarding *'s decision to go to war in Iraq. I DON"T THINK HE IS A TRAITOR OR EVIL. I do think he is misguided, in this instance, and that if our party takes up his refrain until the election it will cause us to lose votes. I do want to keep my emotions under control, and I have delayed posting this to enable myself to do so.
I believe that we, the grassroots of the DemocratIC Party, have a responsibility to help our officials choose the right path. I have heard some disturbing innuendo from Dems lately, hinting that we will not criticize *. I've heard it from others besides Obama, so this is not meant to single him out. However, I am afraid that it is becoming a trend. Let's try to encourage our leaders to speak out more forcefully against *. With the press in *'s pocket, we are the only voice for truth. Here is my e-mail sent to info@obamaforillinois.com
Dear Mr. Obama, I am a lifelong Democrat and a supporter of yours. I mean you no ill will, but some of your responses on Meet The Press to questions about Bush's mendacity did not seem adequate. It is not necessary to call him a liar, as the reporter tried to trap you into doing. All you have to do is say is, " I have no idea what the President's motives were, and I don't want to speculate. I only know the results of his actions." Then go on to tell the truth about those results. PLEASE, PLEASE do not continue to prop up this failure by attributing "good intentions" to him. It's not necessary, and it only hurts the quest for truth and justice. Sincerely,
DUers, if you agree with me, send an e-mail. Keep it polite. Remember, he is NOT the enemy.
