"All human beings begin life as a feces"
I received this in an e-mail from a friend. Can anyone verify that this actually took place? If it did, someone must have it on record.

_______

NEWSWEEK reports that President Bush, appearing before a right-to-life
rally in Tampa, Florida on June 17, stated:

"We must always remember that all human beings begin life as a feces. A
feces is a living being in the eyes of God, who has endowed that feces
with all of the rights and God-given blessings of any other human
being."

The audience listened in disbelief as the President repeated his error
at least a dozen times, before realizing that he had used the word
"feces" when he meant to say "fetus."

4. Snopes says false.
Does sound like something he'd do though.

8. I usually check snopes but I have to admit that I found this so believable
I skipped that step.

Guess I judged him too harshly :-)

10. Yeah, it's yet another symptom
of that feeling I have, that this is the run-through of it all as farce. Which is to say, I doubted it myself but I also had to look it up on Snopes, just to make sure. Because you never know, with old mushmouth.

7. Is the transcript on whitehouse.gov?
That would be the place to see if it's even mentioned. I bet if he really said it, they probably wouldn't post it...

12. The white house is known for

changing the transcript to remove the malapropisms that Bush
utters.

For example, twice in one speech on Aids, * said addicted where
he meant to say afflicted, the transcript was issued with the word
"afflicted". The audio is very clear.

the feces has been discussed here in another thread, and, apparently,
debunked.

9. He was having a clairvoyant moment and meant to say
My life will end with me caked in my own feces in a jail cell.

14. That's a reworking of an old Reagan story
As much as I'd like it to be true, I think it's from a story about Reagan and an inebriated supporter speaking at a fundraiser who told Reagan that he had begun life as a "feces." Reagan reportedly told his staff later that it was the first time in his life that he had to dress in black tie to be "called a piece of shit."
