My 80 yr old Dad saw Free Speech TV today for the first time
I was helping him out, and had the satellite tv on in the background as I cleaned. When he got up, he watch one of Amy Goodman's newscasts. He got to hear about stories like how Allawi allegedly shot several prisoners, and the smear against Joe Wilson, etc. He said to me "WOW!! Now THIS is NEWS! This is GREAT! They don't tell you about this stuff on the other news! Thanks heavens there's a place that people can get real news from!!"

Indeed. None of this is unfamiliar to us who get our news from the internet -- but I tell this story to show how ordinary Americans are starving for real information about the truth, and how they understand that they are being (unsuccessfully) brainwashed. (side note: my Dad's WWII vet friends all HATE Bush -- they are furious that they went toe to toe with Hitler just to see a facist take over at the end of their lives....)

Another note: saw Fountains of Wayne at a county concert -- the lead singer had a Kerry sticker on his guitar.

At the same concert -- the MC announced that the Green Party was present tonight to advocate for Nader -- but that he hoped that people understood that a vote for Nader was a vote for Bush.

I love Pittsburgh....

1. I watch Democracy Now every morning...
...and have given up on CNN and all the other so-called 'news' channels. Your Dad is correct: they DON'T report this kind of news (and truth) on any other network. That's why they call it 'free speech' TV.

- It's an eye opener.

GPUS has it's own candidate.

3.  my Dad's WWII vet friends all HATE Bush
Our seniors are smart cookies! My dad is a Korean War and WWII vet also. He DESPISES Bush! My mom does too. You should hear my dad go on about "that SOB Bush"....Whew! It tickles me to listen to it though! (he's 78) He lectured his younger neighbor (35 yrs. old maybe) about being a Bush fan. OMG! I was laughing so hard at the things he said. The guy was SPEECHLESS! Gotta love our seniors! No holds barred!

It's great to hear about the pro-Kerry sticker/stories. How did the crowd react to the statement? Did they boo him? Cheer?

4. The one thing F-911 is demonstrating
is how desperate people are to hear something besides Michael Jackson, Laci Peterson, Kobe Bryant, and the unchallenged, Enronned numbers out of the Bush administration. People are starving for the truth and will pay eight bucks a pop to get a dose of it in a movie theater.

The major "news" media are rapidly making themselves obsolete with their steady drumbeat of conservative crapola all the time. People are fed up, and they're tuning out. They have an inkling that they're not getting any truth in modern broadcasting, and while they don't as yet know what the truth might be, they know better than to look for it in major media.

I have no idea what will start to meet the demand, other than Moore's movies and the net. I do know that something will have to start doing it, even handbills plastered to lampposts, leaflets distributed on the street. Something will have to. The demand is certainly there.
