WOW-If Kerry takes Ohio he will not need-FL,IA,NH,MO,AZ,WV |
|
You get the point if Kerry wins OHIO it is over. All Kerry needs is ME,MA,NY,PA,MD,DE,RI,NJ,MI,OH,MN,WI,IL,WA,OR,CA and HI. This by no means is difficult. All but Ohio shopuld be already in the bag.

1. Well, don't count on Nebraska. They local news putz was just talking |
|
about how when Cheney was here he remarked that they took Nebraska in 2000 and they were counting on it again. And I'm sure they're right. This is Stupid Central when it comes to politics and voting what is best for the country.

3. Well, the number of electronic voting machines |
|
in Ohio has been reduced somewhat, though it does still concern me that they'll be using non-Diebold ones in some counties, including the one that's home to the state capital, Columbus, the second largest city in the state. But at least Diebold is out for this year. I think it's still up for grabs, at this point -- I sure won't call it for Bush* this early.

we voted for Reagan in '84 and for some damn reason Bush in 00. I have yet to meet one of the ones who did who's still voting for him.

But it also works the other way. If Kerry wins Florida and Bush wins Ohio. Meet your new President John Kerry. I would rather be in Kerry's position than Bush's.

8. True, but if Kerry can win OH he should win FL,NH, and WV |
|
and he should have a good shot at IA, MO, AZ and lots of other states.
Campaigning in different states is a good idea for Kerry. People talk to their friends and relatives by email and phone. If Kerry makes a good impression at a town meeting in MO, half the people who saw him will be on the phone with friends and relatives in other swing states.
The point is that all these states have a lot in common, culturally and socially, even though they are in different parts of the country. They're characterized by an electorate that is independent, feisty, somewhat grumpy, hardworking, and, ultimately, thoughtful when it comes to making their choices. That's why they're swing states.

13. it's not so simple, Gore won some of those states by a very small amount |
|
we need to remember that some of the states gore won in 2000 were VERY close. and we can't assume they will automatically be ours. we will have to work just as hard to win those states as we would in states we lost by a little.
so while you are correct in the mathematical sense. we still have to work VERY hard to keep the states that gore won in 2000.

I still can't believe that my native state voted for Smirky. All my friends that voted for him in 2000 say they won't make the same mistake.
