Wonder what would have happened with a THIRD TERM CLINTON presidency
other than possibly the Twin Towers may still have been standing in New York.

2. I know what wouldn't have happened.
And I am relatively sure I would be sleeping better. :)

4. People would be complaining about taxes, growth, etc.
Dow would be running about 13,000. Growth would have been slow through 01 and 02, picking up during 03. We'd be back in a mild budget surplus following 2-3 years of even budgets or small (100B) deficits.

We'd have about 50,000 troops deployed in Afghanistan, as part of a 125,000-strong NATO force, and we'd probably have about 20,000 more in Saudi pressuring Hussein to continue to let inspectors run around the country. I don't think 9/11 would have been stopped, but Madrid wouldn't have happened, and the anthrax killer would be headed for the death chamber.

5. Even if a certain "terrorist emergency" of Sept 11 wouldn't have been

thwarted, I am sure Bill Clinton wouldn't have responded with at least 7 minutes or more of numb inaction.

On edit, I suspect he would have had to play it "cool as a cucumber," even if he had to *force* himself, possibly to make sure no one was unnerved even further.

6. Peace in the Middle East.
Seriously, Clinton had worked very hard on this--he was close to a solution--and it fell through. With four more years--he would have achieved an agreement between the Palestinians and Israelis--there would have been peace in the Middle East--and people throughout the region would have praised us (ESPECIALLY the ones who hate us because of the Palestinean situation).
