I think I know why Boston was chosen for the convention |
|
I can remember thinking that the Democrats should have held their convention in a swing state city like Cleveland, Miami or St. Louis, so as to give the ticket more local media exposure. But now I realize that this would have been a mistake. Given all the security and inconveniences to the locals, I would not be surprised if a few thousand of them vote for Bush as a form of payback. Fortunately, in Massachusetts these are votes Democrats have to spare. That would not be the case in Missouri or Ohio.

1. Boston got it because of Ted Kennedy and others in the state |

who offered a good "package" . they almost got it in 2000 i think but missed out. so they fought harder to get it this time and it worked. i think new york and louisiana were also on the final list. i was thinking louisiana would be a good place because while it is conservative it is also very democratic and maybe we can appeal to them with the convention. but ted kennedy, mayor menino just had a better offer in the end of what they would provide.
