George Bush(the father), Bob Dole, and John McCain are true War heroes who sacrificed for our country in time of war. No Democrat that I know ever questioned their bravery, courage, or patriotism. Even if we disagreed with any one of their political positions, there was always respect for their accomplishments and valor when their country needed them.
I have never read a column or article that impugned any of their Military achievements. They, as well as any American, regardless of the war in which they fought, deserve the utmost of respect and honor from an appreciative citizenry.
Yet, war heroes who happen to be Democrats, such as George McGovern, Max Cleland, and John Kerry, whose bravery, courage, and patriotism are at least equal to the three Republican Veterans, are reviled questioned. This goes far above just disagreeing with them politically. They question medals, wounds, and accomplishments that occurred while these men sacrificed for their country, and risked their lives. In McGovern's case in 1972, Vice-President Agnew questioned McGovern's bravery even though the Senator flew over forty missions, through hostile fire over Berlin, during the hight of WWII.
On Thursday evening, we will see two brave men who were heroic in a time of conflict. Both men have had to endure humiliating and disgraceful conduct by Repuke front groups or disgusting Conservative columnists. Below, I have provided a link for a four month old column from one of the worst pieces of shit to ever write for a public forum in the history of America.
This column is especially mean spirited, not only against Max Cleland, but toward the many brave men and women who gave their lives on 9/11. In this column, Ann Coulter reticules Union Workers during a hypothetical, future terrorist attack, implying that they would not act in time to prevent disaster. She must conveniently forget all those fallen heroes on that tragic day that gave their lives. Police, Fire Fighters, EMTs, Port Authority Personal, Pilots, and Flight Attendants were all Union people. Again, our heroes are not really heroes to the Repukes and their shrill army of propagandists, because we don't fit their agenda.
Where is the outrage from the other side at remarks such as the ones that are stated in this article? Where is the condemnation of these unpatriotic and disgusting remarks which are made in print?
If you have never read this article, I believe it is a must read for all DUers. If you have already read it, it is worth reading again just to remind us of the evil nature of the opposition.
On Thursday evening, when Max Cleland introduces John Kerry, I wish every American could be aware of the vindictive nature of those individuals on the other side, and draw the contrast.
Here's the link. Warning: could cause nausea or vomiting.
