Item on local (ABC) news last night, a display of crudely forged medieval torture devices. commentary stated that they were used by Hussein on failed olympic athletes as punishment.
this is obvious crap. the devices were clearly all museum pieces. One was an "iron maiden" of indubitable antiquity, & a device designed for the xian inquisition.
obviously meant to distract from the horrendous & barbaric treatment of iraqi civilians by some of our troops.
i fear the public is buying into all this ridiculous propaganda, just as they bought the alleged rape of belgian nuns and head-bashing of belgian babies during both world wars.
i'm afraid, by hook & crook, this election, & therefore our democracy, is lost.

The history of uday is legendary. He was a pretty sick dude.

4. i'm not an apologist for the hussein monsters |
|
i just don't buy this particular tripe. Yes, the hussein regime, as well as idi amin, the bush administration, et al, are notorious torturers & barbarous sociopaths.
my concern is that this contrived display is geared toward inflaming the public against muslims, in order to perpetuate the empirical corporate greedgrab in the name of a "holy" war.

3. But, Saddam was a brutal dictator. |
|
It shouldn't be surprising that he tortured & killed his subjects arbitrarily.
The United States is SUPPOSED to represent freedom, liberty, democracy, and above all the rule of law. Her soldiers are SUPPOSED to embody these ideals, aren't they? Instead, Rumsferatu has them acting more like Uday & Qusay.

as they escalate, so shall i.
just feel we need to *really* observe the ocean we swim in. most americans don't give a flying fudge flavored fuck about anything other than their status, & satiation of their appetites.
