C-SPAN airs interview with an anarchist protester at DNC
Did anyone see William Taggart of the Bl(A)ck Tea Society on Washington Journal this morning? He was there to represent "protesters" at the DNC in Boston. I wasn't able to watch the whole interview, but I saw enough to marvel over the fact that any American network at all was airing the views of and "free publicity" for an anarchist group without apparent judgment and without catching him on the street choking on tear gas and breathing through a bandana--without making him look like a terrorist, in other words.

1. I didn't see it...
..unfortunately. I normally watch most of Washington Journal every morning but I decided to sleep in a bit later than usual (to 8AM) so that I could stay up later tonight to watch all of the Convention. Then I logged on to DU and made my morning rounds. (Normally I am up around 6AMish.) So I didn't get a chance to turn on Washington Journal until 9AM.

Mind telling those of us who didn't see it what he said and what happened?

2. As I say, I didn't see the whole thing
What I did see was this:

a slightly nervous, but well-spoken young man named William Taggart, who is a doctoral candidate at MIT in media, discussing the plans for protest at the DNC this week, the "Convergence Center" where activists are fed and housed for free during Convention week, and the Website, where interested parties could read about the group's positions and planned and past actions. I heard one caller, who happened to be entirely sypathetic, even to the point of sounding a little like a plant, though he was calling from Illinois. I missed all calls after that point. The host--the guy with a buzz cut--was as neutral as neutral could be up to that point.

3. i saw part of it
it was nice to see some real dissent in the media.
he is a very reasonable and well spoken individual.

the one caller near the end was unreal. she just rambled incoherently for way too long and then he said "i have no response to that" and they moved right along.

4. What was the nature of her ramble?
Was she a winger?

7. Winger for sure
ranted about Teresa telling the reporter to 'shove it' (this was mentioned by about 60 - 75 % of bush-supporting callers.

They're organized and willful, gotta give them that. :(

The journalist who was on before (can't remember his name) he had me so mad. Talked about how Democrats took the media for granted, and didn't return calls, weren't 'nice' enough.

Yeah, that's what's important, you self-serving jerk. Not anything meaningless like FACTS or USEFUL INFO. He spewed some drivel as well, but I've already forgotten it. If you enjoy listening to pampered clowning 'journalists' rant about their importance, you might look for the archive on the site.

:grr:

5. My local Fox affiliate is running a story on convention protesting. The
spot they keep showing over and over is of tear gassings, and people struggling with cops, and they show people who do not look like your typical, law-abiding American.

They're obviously file footage pictures, but the spot almost crosses the line. You just know that a lot of people are watching it thinking that they're shots from the Dem Convention.

They REALLY want to make it look like the 68 Miami & Chicago conventions so that moderates lean right rather than left.

6. That's sick.
I'd protest what that station is doing, and demand that it be taken off air.
