I just watched Outfoxed and wanted to vent
Because of Fox "news" I am convinced that they are the main reason that almost half of this country are ignorant morons.
I highly recommend the documentary because it absolutely BURIES Fox News (with thier own clips)and shows how they are just a megaphoned cheerleader for the White House.
Since they are the most watched news in America(according to the Nielson ratings)I no longer wonder how Bush has weaseled out of every single scandal in his 3 long years.
Like the former Soviet Union this lying bullshit government has thier own tv station and keeps the citizens in the dark.

I know many of you think CNN is just as bad but I disagree. CNN does not come close to a real news network when it comes to covering this pResident and his band of crooks, but they are WAY better than Fox.

One other vent...I just heard that there will be very little Bush bashing at the convention. WHY?????????????
He is hands down the most crooked man to ever sit in the Oval Office.
If Bill Clinton did half of what Bush has done he would be buried next to Jimmy Hoffa by now!

2. It's been one thing to complain that MSNBC and CNN emulate FOX
Edited on Mon Jul-26-04 11:18 AM by rocknation
It's quite another to actually hear the ex-producer of Phil Donohue's MSNBC show that he was under orders to make sure the liberal and democratic guests were always outnumbered!

3. I agree with your assessment of Fox and CNN
but the reason that there will be little overt Bush bashing is that the Dems need to win this election. We need to have a convention that is positive and upbeat and gives Americans a feeling of hope.

In 2002 that I was ecstatic when my Dem candidate for governor of Maryland, Kathleen Kennedy Townsend, was as angry as I was. Unfortunately, she lost the election to a Bush clone named Erhlich. That was a hard lesson, but one that I won't forget.

4. "Since they are the most watched news in America".....cable news only
Network news clobbers them. The thing about network news is that they have been branded as the "Liberal Media" and they go so far in the other direction to prove they aren't that they are now "Conservative Media" They deliberately analyze their shows for bias and pull out anything that they suspect could get them labeled as Liberal and by doing this they allow a Conservative bias to creep in

8. I agree with that.
It's all about ratings and no news outlets want to be called "liberal".

18. It's NOT all about ratings. Donahue had high ratings..
I bet Bill Moyer's show did too. It's about advertisers, it's about denial of access to power (ie., no more tickets to press briefings, no more special scoops..). The game is rigged.

5. Didn't you feel the love
oozing from the republican slime machine who tried for 8 frickin' years to take down the Clinton administration? They NEVER bashed Clinton. :eyes: I think the Dems, right now, during the convention, need to let the people know what THEY stand for. Kerry gets little to no coverage and this is a good opportunity for them to state their positions. I think that's the reasoning behind the "Kinder...Gentler Democratic Party.

6. Bashing Bush is not going to win this election.
Edited on Mon Jul-26-04 11:39 AM by RUSTY SHACKLEFORD
There's a reason Fox News is the most watched news channel, and Bush-bashing is only going to repel turncoat Republicans and ship-jumping conservatives. Kerry/Edwards are playing this hand correctly. There will be plenty of time for bashing and gloating after November.

11. "some people say...."
Edited on Mon Jul-26-04 11:30 AM by KurtNYC
You are right. Most dislike Bush so it is time to move on to close the sale. We have limited time to get our message out through the RW media filters. People have a reason to vote against Bush but they need reasons to vote FOR Kerry.

Just had to throw in a "some people say" and now I will "Shut up!!"
:-)

Somewhere.

I'm sure if you stare long enough at my words, you could read that into them.

But words are funny. They mean things.

25. I couldn't disagree more...
.... and I'll be glad when the party leaders figure it out.

Happy talk does not get votes. Legitimate, well-stated criticism will. Call it "bashing" if it makes you feel better, but if people don't hear the truth about Bush* from Dems they will simply not hear the truth about Bush*.

13. I Had Never Seen The Jeremy Glick Interview
Before watching Outfoxed.

I'm not a violent person, but when I got done watching that interview, I wanted to rip off Bill O'Liely's head and shit down his soul.

I'm glad I never watch that blotchy piece of shit.

14. On Sunday, CSPAN had a media forum hosted by Harvard
Judy Woodruff, Jim Lehrer, Peter Jennings, Tom Brokaw, & Dan Rather were on the panel. Fox was asked to go and declined.

There were asked a lot of tough questions about bias and what they have done in reporting the war and why they do what they do...

Peter Jennings admitted more influence from the mobilized conservatives than Dan Rather would admit. I felt Jennings was being more honest. They all but said that they went to the right because of pressures on advertisers, etc. It was my impression that between the lines they were worried about losing too many people to FOX if they appeared to show any liberal leaning views.

it reinforced everything I ever felt about the sleaze that would pass itself off as news.
Fox would give yellow journalism a bad name.

Edited on Mon Jul-26-04 02:47 PM by lostnfound
I've seen both movies and Control Room IMo was much better done, much more interesting. It's not EXACTLY the same point, but in a way, it was better than 'Outfoxed' because instead of just telling you, it kind of showed you.
