1. Somebody must show us a way out of the current mess
And it should be us, in a positive and affirmative way.

2. Not attacking Bush is insane.
Edited on Mon Jul-26-04 02:47 PM by realpolitik
his policies have been an unmitigated disaster for most Americans.
If you do not run against Bush, you miss a very important point...
That Dems offer something better than this. To do that, you need too clearly show why *this* is so awful.

If you don't show us what needs fixing, how do we know you mean to fix it?

16. OF COURSE they need to attack Bush*.
But this week they need to do it with a smile and a wink. And knowing Kerry and Edwards, they'll do it MASTERFULLY...

3. Once again, the Democratic Party dances like mokeys to the Imperial Pravda
Organ Grinder.

Words cannot describe how sick I am over it.

God, I want a to live in a Free Country with a Free Press and an Opposition Party.

But Imperial Amerika has none of those things.

5. How else do we get people fired up?
Im not sure bush bashing is accurate. It should be called, bush describing, shouldnt it? Why not throw some distinctive language out there? Who are we trying to court anyway?

I dont think mediocracy will inspire anyone. Go for the throat!

Please, please, 1/2 TRUTH TELLING -- not bashing. The guy is a walking disaster. It is not "bashing" to point this out. I want to be inspired. I want to be revved up. What is wrong with our party??

8. If you talk about Bush at all, how can you help being negative?
There's nothing at all positive to say about Bush and the Bushists. You don't have bash him, you just have to tell the truth about him.

9. I'm already depressed, dejected and ready to give up
I haven't posted here much but I've been reading for weeks. My anger/enthusiasm level keeps rising and falling to an alarming degree. When I heard about this "no Bush-bashing policy" I thought, "that's it, I can't do it anymore." Do what?

Care.

If no one in the media cares about what Bush and the Republicans have done to our country,

If half the country doesn't care about what Bush and the Republicans have done to our country,

If no one in the Democratic leadership cares about what Bush and the Republicans have done to our country,

why should I?

If they're going to muzzle Al Gore, fuck them.

If they're going to keep quiet about what Bush and the Republicans have done to our country, fuck them.

Why should I care, if no one else does? (I know you guys do. Put us all together and we'll have a nice softball team)

Fahrenheit 9/11 got people, including me (who was NOT political before seeing it), all fired up and rightly angry about what's been happening. But the Democrats want to lay low, keep quiet, not rock the boat, be boring. They'll lose in November, and they'll deserve to lose, because being boring and namby-pamby in the face of such blatant disregard for what America stands for is beyond disgusting.

Righteous anger at what the Right has done is the ONLY thing that will get people up in arms and energized. What the Democrats are doing with this bland strategy is saying to the people "Hey, it's not so bad, what they did and will do to the country and the world is not so bad. We're cool with it, but hey, vote for us anyway, ok? I mean, if you feel like it and everything."

How dare they (Republicans and Democrats) sell the values of this country down the river. Yes, I understand all about compromise and all, but the Republicans are waiting in the wings, waiting like sharks to eat us up like chum.

Oh, I'll vote for Kerry, not that it'll do much good. What good will it do when the country is blind, and if anyone dares to say something at all anti-Bush, we're blasted as "negative"?

I'll know for sure after Thursday night if I should just give up completely.

13. After hearing how the media is in fullout attack the Dems mode, Yes
Edited on Mon Jul-26-04 03:26 PM by Walt Starr
The Democrats were brilliant to stop all Bush bashing and instead present a positive image.

The Republican love-fest the media is having during this convention is going to BACKFIRE BIG TIME!!!!

My wife always says, "give the Republicans enough rope and they'll shoot themselves in the foot."

I think Kerry and the DNC have given the Repukes all the rope, some guns, pills, and a straight razor. They're now allowing the Repukes to play with all of these toys.

Some high-ranking Democrat was brilliant and read the media like a book and is now playing them like a violin.

Message out of the DNC: The Democrats have a positive view about the future of this nation and all the Republicans have to offer is negative attacks on Democrats.

15. Stay positive, I want to win this.
There will be attacks later; the convention is an opportunity to reach out to middle-of-the-roaders.
