Gore Convention Speech Being Rewritten
According to NBC News correspondent Andrea Mitchell, the DNC speech vetting process has had its first “casualty:” Al Gore.

The word is out: the liberal wing of the party is being told to avoid any harsh rhetoric. That could already be affecting tonight’s headliners: last night, Al Gore’s speech was basically torn up, according to two sources, and is now being rewritten, presumably to fit more closely with the party line.

3. I read earlier that Gore and Kennedy's speeches were off limits.
I hope that this isn't true, I guess we'll see.

5. I have to tell you that I am feeling
ashamed of my party. How dare they muzzle my President? It is bad enough how he has been treated the last few years--now they are going to take away his right to free speech?

Maybe they should put him in one of the pens with the other people who speak out.

This is SO WRONG!

15. All based on the word of "Andrea Mitchell?!?!?" - see post #13
what happened to healthy skepticism of the media.

2. According to Andrea Mitchell? That's a laugh and a half!
The media won't pass up a chance to "Gore" Al Gore! I find this highly suspicious.

YUP! She is. It's all so cozy, eh? I read that in Paul O'Neil's book. ;)

16. Agreed
I also heard on CNN that the speech was praised for its tone. How odd that Mrs. Greenspan has such different information.

17. It's probably "her sources". We know who they are.
This was probably a little rumor started by John Snow. I can't wait to see what she has to say about the slumping market! LOL!

9. While the messenger is suspect....
We've all heard Gore speak in the past...
refreshingly truthful.
If he had to rewrite his speech, we
can look forward to more "cannedvention"
(I just made that up)

is excellent and will "fire up the base." It WASN'T rewritten! The Kerry camp said they didn't change a thing.

20. Why isn't it possible that:
Edited on Mon Jul-26-04 05:49 PM by Jackpine Radical
a) Gore's speech wasn't torn up, revised, or otherwise tampered with, and
b) Andrea Mitchell is a lying POS intent on sowing discord among the righteous?

23. Ed Gillespie, Woodruff and Novak think this policy is a great idea.
It looks as though the people running the Kerry campaign have finally achieved bipartisan agreement on their strategy.
