How do both sit with you?

1. I don't think I can even select one of those |

Really- the double standard is just disgusting. I've been hiking all morning with my kids, and I came back to read that Gillespie wants her to apologize?
A really big part of me says "go girl" but the other part of me just wants civility returned to politics. I'm no longer sure it is possible for both sides to be civil. I'm leaning towards - go girl, and dems follow her lead.

2. Personally, I wish she'd said "Shove off!" |
|
which is less rude, somehow, but more godlike.

4. Criticize Bush heavily, but be careful to maintain composure |
|
Don't make a speech lamenting the lack of civil discourse in politics and then immediately turn around and say "shove it"

Teresa's not speaking at the convetion, where undecided voters will be tuning in to find out about Kerry.
Not really comparing apples to apples, is it?

6. I had to pick number one |

because I think Theresa was totally in line to say what she did. Especially after the Cheney outburst on the floor. For one thing, the term, "Shove it" does not even contain any curse words. For another, the man was being a boorish moron. That aside, I think you're dreaming if you don't think we have to be diplomatic about what we say. I'm not saying you don't have the right to say what you like, but it might be to your own advantage in the long run to phrase what you say in a more diplomatic way if possible. Why give the GOP meat to chew on? A positive message is more effective anyway. This isn't censorship, it's just strategy. You aren't forced to follow it.

We lefties need a little red meat--or red bulgar wheat, anyway--too, you know. ;)

8. She wasn't telling Republicans or Bush to shove it. She was telling a... |

10. I'm all for telling journalists to shove it. I'm for telling people why... |

...we're better than Republicans, and it's way way more than because we can be more irrascible than Dick Cheney when pushed to the limit.

11. Repubs --and their media lackeys--will turn the "shove it" story into |
|
rich bitch tells off one of the little people. They already have. How does that sit with the average non-Democratic, non-activist American? I don't know. I have a feeling it may be a little more effective as propaganda than forcing smiles and speaking platitudes.
