I just did a bad thing.
I was surveyed by a self-identified "Conservative Union," told them I was going to vote for Bush, and then proceeded to answer the followup questiopns about gay marriage, taxes, etc. more for less at random. I figured, "why not fuck up their database a little? Maybe make them believe some things that aren't true about the population they think they're surveying."

Anybody got any thoughts about my bad behavior?

1. Very nice
Lying to surveys is but one way to make a valid contribution to society.

4. you naughty boy
But I wonder, why does Chimp survey at all? I mean, supposedly his base thinks it's great that he doesn't "waver according to the polls", but makes decisions based on his "moral convictions". So why poll at all? Why would he care what people think? Would his moral convictions change?

Good tactic on your part, IMO.

6. Hooray For The Provacateurs!
I've only been exit-polled twice, and lied both times, with a smile on my face. :D

7. There is no good or bad
But if the Republicans want to throw money at polls that don't mean a damn thing, I don't see anything wrong with that. Mess up their results and you're likely to see some real schizophrenic advertising, which is always laughworthy.

And that IS good.

8. My thoughts are that it's more common than you think
although people who understand research methodology and who are really intersted in objective conclusions have methods for taking that into account.

9. I turned the tables on a Republican volunteer caller this a.m.
For once, I got a Republican who was civil!

First I told her I wouldn't vote for GW for trash collector and my husband, who is registered Republican, wouldn't either. I refuted much of what she said (sounded like she got her info from Fox News), but realized that we were not really getting anywhere.

So I asked her (a WWII generationer) if she had Internet. When she said yes, I told her to google PNAC or Project for the New American Century, read who the members were and what they had to say. Then she should decide whether or not she wanted these people having power.

She wrote that down and said she would.

I wonder if she will, and if she'll call me back on it???
